This is not Hot Chip's (or Kraftwerk's) best work,
By
This review is from: Aerodynamik / La Forme (Audio CD)
Let me state upfront that I am a huge fan of both Kraftwerk (since the mid-70s) and of Hot Chip (since their 2006 "The Warning" album). Kraftwerk of course has a history of remixing their songs, and when Hot Chips was invited to take a stab at it, they went for it. I bought this single sound unheard."Aerodynamic + Le Forme Remixes" (2 tracks; 20 min.) brings two tracks from Kraftwerk's most recent studio album (2003's "Tour de France Soundtracks"). First up is "Aerodynamic", which in its original form is probably THE standout track on the album. But in Hot Chip's "Intelligent Design Mix", the song stops and goes but falters too often. It really gets its groove with only about two and a half minutes left, but by then you've been waiting 6 minutes to get the party going. The second track is even more curious: first of all "La Forme" is probably the weakest track of the original album, but that shouldn't matter, right? Unfortunately, in Hot Chip's "King of the Mountains Mix", the song remains a pretty low-key, almost listless affair, and it goes on for about 12 minutes. At times, it felt like listening to a Tangerine Dream ambient song. Contrary to the other reviewer, this is defninitely NOT Kraftwerk "taking to the clubs", as neither of these songs as remixed by Hot Chip are dance-oriented tracks. By coincidence, I saw both Kraftwerk and Hot Chip at this year's Coachella festival. My first time ever seeing Kraftwerk, and what a treat it was! Unfortunately, the "Aerodynamic + La Forme Remixes" single was not the treat it could've and should've been.

Kraftwerk Takes It To The Club...Again,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Aerodynamik / La Forme (Audio CD)
Kraftwerk has become an updated version of the Beach Boys - repackaging old material again and again due to a dearth of creativity - or taking an old-school tool of remixes and keeping fresh in the club scene.AeroDynamik/La Forme were released in 2003 - Tour de France Soundtracks - with these extended remixes by Hot Chip. Released in September 2007, it debuted in the seventy-eighth slot in the UK singles chart. Fans of Kraftwerk - or Hot Chip - will be pleased with the effort, as these are essentially two "new" cuts. But this continued series of remix releases is getting old, though the price remains nice.
