5.0 out of 5 stars Froth away!
Nowadays there is a bunch of these critters on the market, but I had to do quite a search a few years ago when I was looking for a low-budget way to make my coffee taste as good as the high-priced yuppie places, and didn't feel I could spring for a three-hundred dollar machine. 2.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working after two months
This was great for two months, and then it stopped working. I'll probably replace it with a manual frother (looks like Bodum has a pretty nice one).

Were it still working, I would give it four stars. Here's why:
- The stand it comes with is convenient and sleek, but slightly awkward to use -- you have to put the frother in from the top, and the half-open...

Nowadays there is a bunch of these critters on the market, but I had to do quite a search a few years ago when I was looking for a low-budget way to make my coffee taste as good as the high-priced yuppie places, and didn't feel I could spring for a three-hundred dollar machine. Sho 'nuff, I got one of these Aerolattes from an online department store. It does just the trick, whether on my freshly-brewed freshly-roasted freshly-ground coffee with at least half hot 1% milk, or on hot chocolate made from powder which is impossible to blend by spoon. Yup, I like it.

I was skeptical whether a little gizmo costing fifteen or twenty dollars could really whip my coffee up the way I wanted, but it does. It is important to wait until you've got the business end in the liquid before you start the thing, unless you like to wear your coffee. The directions say to keep the whirrer just under the surface of the liquid, and I've found that does work. And the batteries seem to last a long time. When it's time for new ones, the whip starts to wobble.

Help I bought this for my girlfriend and now she's frothing EVERYTHING and singing praises to the frother! The cats are hiding under the bed because every 5 minutes there's the distinctive whirl of the frother going.

She does love it, though. Just beware: things you never thought frothed will be frothed. Some will turn out well, others won't (steaks, for instance).

This was great for two months, and then it stopped working. I'll probably replace it with a manual frother (looks like Bodum has a pretty nice one).

Were it still working, I would give it four stars. Here's why:
- The stand it comes with is convenient and sleek, but slightly awkward to use -- you have to put the frother in from the top, and the half-open design means that the tips of the wires scratch the body of the frother if you fumble.
- It sometimes turns on in the off position when you apply pressure against the switch, which can be surprising/splatter milk everywhere/etc until you get used to it.
- Other than that, it looks good and froths cold milk to triple its volume in less than five seconds.

Does what it is supposed to do. Using this, I was able to replicate my favorite Starbucks chai tea latte at a fraction of the cost.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I gave it a try and I love this! It works so well that I had foam in less than 10 seconds, really. The only thing to be aware of is not to overfill your mug, because it's a mini-tsunami otherwise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good if you don't have a cappuccino machine, April 26, 2010

This review is from: Aerolatte Original Steam-Free Milk Frother with Stand (Kitchen)
I don't have an espresso/cappuccino machine so I needed something to froth my milk. I bought the aeropress espresso maker (which works great by the way) and needed something to froth the milk to make cappuccinos. I usually just use non-dairy french vanilla creamer and froth that. It works great for that and the froth lasts for quite a while. I made a cappuccino, drank about half of it, and then it sat for about an hour and it still had froth. Now I've also tried this with 2% or reduced fat milk and whole milk and it works well, but the froth doesn't last very long. Maybe thats just the nature of it. Since I've never had a cappuccino machine, I can't say for sure. But all in all, a good product.

We actually use this "frother" to mix up our health shakes...and it works VERY well. Our health shakes are about 3 oz of powder and 8 oz of water...mixes in about 5 secs

1.0 out of 5 stars Won't work in raw milk!, May 16, 2010

This may be a great gadget, but if you are a raw milk drinker like me, it whips the cream into butter. I was so looking forward to using this, because I love my cappuccino, but don't bother with it if you do not use homogenized milk.

The Aerolatte is fine. Don't expect a stand. I ordered one with a stand and received one without a stand, returned it since I wanted a stand and had paid for a stand, then received another without the stand, then, when I inquired, gave up since I was told there was a "widespread problem" involving the stand and I was invited to return the second one for a refund.
