It really makes good froth for your coffee.

I find it more consistent if I froth cold milk first, then nuke it for about 10 seconds. This way the froth stays "solid" instead of melting away (at least that's the way I like it).

I take it to work and whenever I travel, too. I've been using my extra sets of reachargeable batteries, cos the batteries that came with it only lasted me probably less than a month (I've been using this frother 3x a day since January).

This whip really does work great. I've worked in a couple coffee shops, and I'll tell you, it's almost (and I mean ALMOST, and that complimentarily) just as good, but the best way to get the foam cap is to heat the milk in a pan on the stove, then whip the whole bunch--the wide surface area will give you maximum foam. Block it with a spoon when you poor it into the espresso (of coffee), then spoon the foam onto the top. The travel case is also ideal for me, since I travel a lot.

There's no doubt that it's a great frother! It does what it's supposed to do; it froths any kind of milk darn good!
Sharing my 3-week-experience, lactose free milk worked the best. The foam stayed longer than other milk. The fresher the milk is, the more foam you get as well.

I would have loved it more if it did not have design and/or material problem.
It's made out of cheap plastic. The body can't get a hold of its own lid to battery. I wasn't comfortable using it because it's just about to pop out of the handle while frothing.
I tried to tighten the screws in, but it didn't do much.

Finally Amazon sent me a replacement, however it came with the same problem.
I am afraid I should return both of them and get a stainless steel version.

I was given my first aerolatte about 6 years ago - liked it so much i immediately bought another (e-bay) for use at the office. My Doctor does not allow me to have any coffee at all, but I needed a stirrer to mix my protein powder into my milk without making lumps. They both worked perfectly, lasting about 6 years, then inexplicably died! Both of them, within a month of each other!! I can't get along without them, so I ordered two new replacements through Amazon. They also work perfectly. So far it's 4 for 4 with no problems (I expect them to wear out eventually but it's great knowing i can quickly, conveniently cheaply replace them here) I found the batteries last longer and provide more power, and are rechargeable, if you use Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables - performance is better than alkalines, and WAY better than regular NiMH. Eneloops are available on Amazon at about $7 for a 6 AA pack. My only negative was a quick learning experience when I first got it: submerge the whisk, THEN turn it on! Failure to do so will spray-paint you, the counter-top, the walls, the kid, the cat, and anything else within about 12 feet. You only do that ONCE...

The unit is powerful and fast but the battery compartment is flawed by poor design. The lid which is located on the top is loose and ill fitting. I had to send the first one back because it would pop off in normal operation. The replacement still has fit issues, but seems to stay in place.

Update: After 8 months of daily use, it got little wobblier than I'd like, the shaft bent, and then one day, my son put it in a sink of soapy water to wash it. That killed it. I've been so pleased, I bought another, but this time, I paid the $24-ish for the stainless "deluxe" model with a heavier shaft and beefier motor Aerolatte 1 Stainless-Steel Deluxe Edition Frother with Stand, Chrome. Now I've had the stainless one for 8 months+ and it's working great.

Background:
~ I use the Aerolatte at least twice a day; my kids also use it
~ I also use the steam-driven frother on my espresso machine
~ I love espresso, and I love making espresso drinks for myself and friends
~ I love traveling, camping, boating, etc., and bringing my coffee with me
~ I love small, compact, easy, 'green' products

Pros:
+ Inexpensive
+ Quick, easy, and quiet to use
+ Makes creamy froth if done right
+ Easy to clean
+ You *can* take it with you ...boating, camping, traveling, to the office, etc.
+ The travel case is a very nice bonus

Cons:
- Not the sturdiest construction - this version didn't last, but my stainless 'deluxe' one has a 5 year warranty.
- It's easy to bend the metal wand (especially if you have curious kids), and then it doesn't spin evenly, but the stainless 'deluxe' model has a much sturdier shaft
- The on/off switch is finicky; pressing on it can cause the motor to go faster - or slower - or spin irregularly; not a problem on my stainless one.

I've had many foamers. I am, in fact, a foamer junkie. This is my favorite. It foams more easily and more items than the old bonjour I had with more of a blade at the bottom. I used to use the bonjour frother that includes a glass holder, but the glass broke and I had to replace it a number of times. I then tried the regular aerolatte, but without a cover, it stopped working properly over time because it didn't have enough protection. Now, this is my only foamer. I have two of them, one tucked away in my suitcase for travel, and one in my appliance drawer. When I want to froth milk for more than one person, I just put the milk in a tall glass and foam a larger amount, which I serve at the table with a long spoon. It is wonderful!
