...burst into flames and sinks to the deepest depths and still causes pain! Jesus, what a load of pumped up crap! This album is comparatively WORSE than the Yoko tracks on Double Fantasy! I guess New York is where no-talent screeching lunatics go to retire. I cannot believe the review I just read on Slate...what a load!
Whilst I've nothing against people who dislike ITAOTS let's please set the record straight on a couple of commonly-aired gripes; 1. "The record is out of tune". Folks, the record is MEANT to be out of tune! It's what makes 'Untitled', in particular, so magnificent - a cacophony of noise that somehow knits together into something beautiful and strangely uplifting. 2. People only like the record because they think it makes them cool and they've been indoctrinated by critics (one recent reviewer refers to '18-25yr old girls' in this context). Well, I'm 40yrs old, male, I ain't cool and I long since ceased trying to be. However, I've listened to quite a considerable depth and breadth of music over the years. I don't know quite why Two Headed Boy PtII consistently makes me cry when I sit alone and listen to it, or how this record in its entirety moves me to my core, but I do know it has nothing to do with wanting to be perceived as cool or faking it to be aligned with music critics.
