Product Description

With enough filters to last for two years, this package of 700 Aeropress microfilters keeps kitchens well stocked. The Micro-filter removes grit, unlike other press-type coffee makers. The filters are designed for use with the AeroPress, an entirely new way to make coffee. Its ideal water temperature and faster brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. Other brewing processes use near boiling water and long exposure to coffee grounds. The AeroPress lets one quickly brew a variety of coffee drinks including an Americano or an espresso-style shot for use in lattes or cappuccinos. Its total-immersion system permits extraction at a moderate temperature and a short brew time. Water and grounds are mixed together for 10 seconds, then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in just 20 seconds, which avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing. The air pressure also gently squeezes the last goodness from the grounds, further enriching the flavor. The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in an exceptionally smooth brew.

I use these with my Hamilton Beach single cup coffee maker. The coffee is better when I use the filters.

As described, the filters fit an aeropress coffee maker. They function as designed and keep the grounds in the aeropress and out of your coffee. People who claim to know how to _really_ make coffee recommend that you rinse the filters before using them, but I have not been able to tell the difference.

The tea sample I received was Earl Grey. It enjoyed it much more than the Earl Grey that comes out of the replicator in the break room. In fact, I enjoyed it enough that I am actually entertaining the idea of buying more.

Yeah yeah yeah, these filters "work." They're fine and fit the pot just right, but where the jesus is my tea sample? They did not come with a sample of tea.

I recently asked whether these filters used a bleaching process that involved chlorine, which would leave dioxin residues in the filter that would then transfer to the coffee being filtered. This is a commonly-addressed problem with bleached coffee filters. The answer that was posted below my question suggests that the AeroPress website says no dioxin. It doesn't say that, and I don't want my question to result in people being inadvertently misled. The website only quotes an author who writes that "Virtually all white filter papers manufactured today are whitened without use of dioxin."

Two things: I don't believe that is true, and more to the point, why wouldn't AeroPress come out and state that their filters are dioxin-free if, indeed, they are? Why quote an ambiguous statement about filters in general instead of making a definitive statement about their own product?

If anyone knows different information about this, please comment. Meanwhile, I sure wish AeroPress would sell a filter that definitively had no dioxin residue.

These guys just plain work. Furthermore, there is little waste compared to large cone or basket filters, so less destruction to the environment.
