This review is from: Aesop's Fables (Paperback)
This book was originally published in 1919, illustrated by Milo Winter. The entire book is off copyright and public domain in the US.
The text of this book is rather wonderful, if you are looked for a complete set of Aesop's fables that have not been modernised and rendered politically correct beyond all recognition. The problem with this printing is the illustrations. Where the original had dozens and dozens of color plates, the illustrations in this printing (other that the cover) are tiny, fuzzy, grey scale reductions. If you are planning on reading this book to young children, don't get this printing. Hold out for a version that has the full color plates of the original. Search for "The Aesop for Children" (the original title) and "Milo Winter". Better printings are available. You can also find the complete original book on-line, with illustrations, at Project Gutenberg and a couple of other sites.
