5.0 out of 5 stars BAPsolutely Fabulous! I Like It - a lot
Hello, What can I say about BAP? I discovered them in 1994 (personal discovery, they were already well famous with other people) and it was empathy at first sound, and that hasn't gone away since then.

I like Aff Un Zo, it doesn't dissapoint me in the slightest, and their songs still have a way of inspiring and touching me so I' ll keep on liking their music.

2.0 out of 5 stars BAP Has Become Old
BAP is a German band singing in Kölsch which is the dialect spoken in Cologne (yes, where your eau de cologne was invented).

'Aff Un Zo' might be better than its highly disappointing predecessor... but it remains clear that BAP's best times are past times.

The album has nothing particular to show. OK, there is hearworthy uncomplicated rock'n'roll on 'Eddie's...

From the first track, Wat e' Johr! ( brilliant moody introduction, stunning arrangement and that great voice of Wolfgang Niedecken ) to the last track, Dir Allein, this CD is a gem for BAP fans and fans of great and melodic rock music alike.

The second track is a crazy and happy reggae number called Aff Un Zo (title track) which is followed by the amazingly catchy and upbeat Eddie's Radio-Show (which I really like) then 4. Shoeshine 5. Mau Mau 6. Die Moritat Vun Jan Un Griet 7. Kilometerweit Entfernt 8. Souvenirs 9. Istanbul 10. Chippendale Desch 11. Noh Zahle Mohle 12. Suwiesu - is beautiful, and the arrangement is sublime 13. Irjenden Rock'n'Roll-Band, great rock and roll anthem 14. Dir Allein - finishes it off

After listening to this CD, I wanted more, so I played it again, and again, and again and again, and I have only had it since last weekend.

BAP will make you laugh, cry, think, let go, muse, look, see, listen and hear. In that respect, BAP will never let you down.

regards,

Martyn

BAP is a German band singing in Kölsch which is the dialect spoken in Cologne (yes, where your eau de cologne was invented).

'Aff Un Zo' might be better than its highly disappointing predecessor... but it remains clear that BAP's best times are past times.

The album has nothing particular to show. OK, there is hearworthy uncomplicated rock'n'roll on 'Eddie's Radio Show' and 'Die Moritat Vun Jan Un Griet', and simple BAP pop on 'Souvenirs' - but originality is only heard on 'Mau Mau' with its cruchy guitar.

The instrumentation of 'Istanbul' is really beautiful but lead singer and band boss Wolfgang Niedecken sounds old, and even though the album's title song is quite OK, it gives the impression of grandparent party. 'Noh Zahle Mohle' is directly bad.

All in all there's little to recommend about 'Aff Un Zo', from some (irjenden) rock'n'roll band which surely has put its best days behind.
