Please to have this in my collection. The Yakuza brothers make a difference!, May 29, 2007
This review is from: Affair (Yaoi) (Paperback)
This is an anthology of 4 stories. My favorite is the one on 2 Yakuza brothers and their complex pasts and relationships. I enjoy twisted relationships in my Yaoi and this one definitely qualifies. This story is dark, fast paced and emotionally driven and I marvel at the mangaka's ability to inject so much in this supposedly short story. I wish this could have been a longer stand alone story. The brothers are most appealing and I just have to love the last page on these 2 gorgeous guys. I guess I will buy this manga just for this story alone.
The other 3 stories are of a lighted tone. The titled story "Affair" does have a few heavy moments and I have to chuckle at the sex parts when they ultimately get to it.
The one on 2 classmates/friends with one teaching the other to drive is a pretty engaging story and a trifle bittersweet when one found the other to be gay.
I am a trifle confused with the story on white collar workers engaged in mahjong game and I blame this 100% on Media 801's translation effort.
I have to say the translation in certain parts is not too good and I do get frustrated at some parts where I have to reread a bit more carefully to figure out who is saying what as the "speech ballons" are not properly linked. This is the reason I am rating this manga 4 instead of 5 stars. But this mangaka's artwork is very pleasing and her guys gorgeous.

Affair by Shiuko Kano, August 10, 2007
This review is from: Affair (Yaoi) (Paperback)
This is a yaoi very different from what I have read till now, more dark and bad behaviour. It's an anthology of 4 stories.
Affair: Yoshi and Sempai were in the same baseball team, but Sempai was the bad boy and Yoshi the good guy. And as the playscript, Sempai got caught in a scandal and quit with baseball. Now he is an women escort and meets again Yoshi, and the heat of a young summer is still hot.
My dear mad dog: Hijiri and Kyouichi are stepbrother, Hijiri son of the mistress of Kyouichi's father. They grown up together and Kyouichi has ever treat Hijiri like a property, something he can use and abuse. But then Kyouichi's mother has a tryst with Hijiri and Hijiri got mad and jealously flares uncontrollable... this is a very dark plot, like a greek drama, full of amoral love and pain/pleasure game (not physical, more emotional)
One lucky guy: Takei is a vey lucky guy but not in love, and when he finds Hirose maybe he will be not lucky in the game, but he will be lucky in love. The less impressive in the story of the anthology, I really don't understand it a lot.
Love machine: Yagi and Tamiya are in the same university and Yagi makes a move with Tamiya but he back off. Then Yagi turns the table and now is Tamiya who chases Yagi around. And when he suspects that Yagi could have another guy, he takes charge of the situation.
Of this four stories without any doubt My Dear Mad Dog is the most interesting and with the better plot. It's also much more adult in content and development of the others. Affair is not bad and the draw is gourgeous: maybe only the cover worths all the yaoi.

I really enyoyed the short stories from Shiuko Kano .The illustrations are pretty.Even with the short story format , the characters are pretty strong and plot are not bad at all.
I like the cover on this one better than the other manga of this author.
I stoped buying BL titles for a while untill I read a snip it of Shiuko Kano's manga.I always prefered good stories and charcaters and not just becasue it is a BL title.
Thank you Shiuko Kano sensei.
