This review is from: Affirming Faith: A Confirmand's Journal (Paperback)
This confirmation class study has much to offer, but I end up having to create a lot of alternative activities because it is too focused on the Statement on Faith. It's not a good starting place, in my experience using it several times. There have, of course, been many changes to the UCC since it was first written, but there is also a perspective on the faith lacking that is aware of the different post-modern world we now live in. Even though written in the 90s, it reads like a version of Christianity that doesn't exist anymore - and doesn't serve to give a foundation to youth based on things that matter to them. Frankly, as the teacher, I get bored with it. Again, I hope the rewrite does something creative. Or I'll have to purchase additional resources again next time. It's an important book to begin with, but doesn't finish the job.
