This contributed book explores the unique environment of the middle school in relation to early adolescents. In addition to differentiating between the middle school and the junior high, the book discusses the environment from organizational, social, emotional, moral, and community dimensions. This book is divided into three sections: Part 1 examines the adolescent and the nature of the middle school; Part 2 discusses benefits of this particular organization for middle schools; and Part 3 offers practical suggestions for daily classroom instruction.
