Rick DiBiasio's easy read book is an eye opener for anyone who is balancing creative urges with creating livelihood. Chapter by chapter, he puts into accessible terms, the basics that most financial gurus understand and many high creatives cannot fathom. The Affluent Artist brings into welcomed alignment, the art of making meaningful creations and the craft of managing money. This book is a primer for our times, when sobriety in financial matters and innovative solutions of all kinds must partner up in productive new ways.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Starving Artists Here, October 11, 2008
By
TW (Florida, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Affluent Artist: How Creative Could You Be If Money Wasn't an Issue? the Money Book for Creative People (Paperback)
Rick DiBiasio's book speaks to the challenges faced by many of us who have successful careers in the arts - or those who want to pursue such a career but fear a conflict with their more materialistic (or practical) priorities. Dealing with money, accepting financial success and financial stability as part of the creative life instead of something that's antithetical to it is what this book is all about. Unlike so many financial books, this one is designed for people working on the opposite side of the brain. The author is clearly attuned to his own creative side and also to writing and speaking about financial matters to an unschooled audience. He seems to know that his readers would rather make a visit to the dentist than take an investing or econ course. While never pedantic, TAA explains the finer points in sufficient detail for the uninitiated to get the idea. He does so without using industry jargon or other insider terminology - and uses actual humor to further lighten things for the reader! Highly recommended for artists, musicians, and anyone else pursuing a creative career without intending to fulfill the starving part of the stereotype!

5.0 out of 5 stars I am Inspired and Encouraged by Rick Dibiasio's "The Affluent Artist", November 3, 2008
This review is from: The Affluent Artist: How Creative Could You Be If Money Wasn't an Issue? the Money Book for Creative People (Paperback)
I began Rick's book on a day when the inspiration was much needed. As I began to read through the book, I was especially impressed by the story of Sue Thompson, moving through all manner of life challenges to achieve her dreams and artistic creation.

I was so enlivened by Rick's ability to translate and relate artistry with the action needed to create consciously and responsibly in life.

This is a great book to keep and re-read for artists in any genre and a must have-on-hand for coaches and seminar leaders.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for entrepreneurs in the creative fields, October 27, 2008

As an entrepreneur in the creative fields, a potential pitfall is to focus exclusively on the success of your business, sometimes at the expense of your personal finances. You may find that large amounts of cash flow through your business accounts, but very little reaches your personal account.

Rick's book outlines a range of great personal finance strategies and approaches in plain English and with a great conversational style that help to address this issue. What makes this book unique is that Rick also addresses the underlying patterns and archetypes which form the basis of the starving artist mindset. A must read for any entrepreneur in the creative field.

5.0 out of 5 stars The End of the Cliche "Starving Artist", October 13, 2008
By
This review is from: The Affluent Artist: How Creative Could You Be If Money Wasn't an Issue? the Money Book for Creative People (Paperback)
This book is excellent for not just artists and others who consider themselves crteative, but for anybody who falls into the trap of saying things like "I'm not good with money". Rick DiBiasio has a wealth of knowledge from his years as a financial planner and more importantly a compassion and kindred spirit with those who are artistic and creative by nature. This book symbolizes the end to the cliche of the "starving artist"!

5.0 out of 5 stars Being Creative with your Finances, January 18, 2009
This review is from: The Affluent Artist: How Creative Could You Be If Money Wasn't an Issue? the Money Book for Creative People (Paperback)
I've never been very knowledgable on the financial end of things and I've never been able to figure out what I need to do, so I can persue the creative outlets in my life without losing my shirt. This book has opened my eyes on how to achieve more financial stability and still be able to do the things I enjoy to do. It's a helpful tool to better explain the pitfalls that artists fall into and how to avoid them. I'm so glad this book exists.

5.0 out of 5 stars How come this gem wasn't here before?, October 28, 2008
This review is from: The Affluent Artist: How Creative Could You Be If Money Wasn't an Issue? the Money Book for Creative People (Paperback)
I am not a writer...., instead I call myself a reader, and as I reader I am totally pleased and excited with the clarity, wisdom and common sense that The Affluent Artist brings to everyone. I am just so sorry it didn't appear a bit earlier so I could have made some timely changes, and therefore, minimized in a significant way the impact of what is going on with the financial world today (October 2008). I consider myself also an artist as I have been a photographer for more that 25 years, and I know what it takes to try to make a decent living out of it... ...to the point, that I have a "real JOB" to support myself, my family and my art....

This book is a great gift from Mr. Di Biasio to the world; I just hope the world takes full advantage of it !
