About the Author

I was born in Hofioni-i-sharrif, which is in the Prawan province, north of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. I was brought up in a very traditional household with parents whose ancestors were part of the rich history and culture, which is Afghanistan's. My earliest memories are filled with the aromas and delights of the family kitchen.Because of my father's position as a religious leader, we often entertained guests along with their families. Afghans are one of the most hospitable people in the world. Anyone who comes into an Afghani home is assured of being treated with great kindness and generosity. They are offered the best food in the household and Afghani hosts take great pride in the preparation of each meal.

This is an extraordinary cookbook. I have another Afghani cookbook, but is even better with all the pictures, and many wonderful recipes. My husband just gave me this wonderful cookbook as a present as he knew much I wanted it, and it's so special. I'll be making lots of wonderful meals from this book, starting with monday.
