Review
This commendable book addresses a need for current information that provides 'the data necessary for a basic understanding of the Afghanistan issue including historical and geographical contexts in which it can be better understood.'...an up-to-date reference source on a subject about which all too little is known....Recommended for all undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and general readers.>>>
...excellent...contains an analysis of Soviet-Afghan relations that is clear, sober and tough-minded....avoids the common fallacies that stem from writing about geopolitics by historical analogy.>>>>
A war that has lasted eight years, caused a million deaths and 5 million refugees, needs more attention than we in the West have seen fit to give it. Afghanistan: The Great Game Revisited...helps fill that need....Editor Rosanne Klass and her colleagues give us the historical background necessary to comprehend the current scene.>>>
...deep, rich and readable...an excellent book. Good writing, well edited, by people who know what they are talking about. First-class. And you may quote me.>>>> (Dan Rather )
...a succinct source of information...>>>>
