It is the best Afghanistan map I have found. I like the detail and accuracy.

I only wish the format was smaller so the entire country was on one side. It is not convenient to hang this on the wall with half of the country on each side. I would also like street maps of the major cities on the reverse side. We know enough about the cities now and have enough military and civilian maps to provide reasonable detail of several cities.

Share reviewer above's idea that it would be good if the whole country were on one side. Would really like to find a map with more topographical detail. Have a son there "somewhere south of Kandahar," so it would be good to know more about the area.

The Nelles map of Afghanistan is difficult to read because it has so much concentration on the mountain ranges and almost no reference to the cities and towns in the country. The mountains are a given, but it is in the cities and towns where Afghans live, so this map might be wonderful for geologists, but it is not useful for anyone looking for specific towns, especially the small ones.

We got this map so we could follow our son's deployment. Most of the places were on the map but some were not. When he got home, he was amused to see that where he was had villages, roads, etc., but on the map there was nothing. Still, it helped to 'see' where he was if only being in the 'empty' part of the country.
