This review is from: Afghans: Traditional and Modern (Hardcover)
This hardback book was published by Crown Publishers in 1977 and contains directions for 38 afghans to knitor crochet or crochet with an afghan hook. There is a color photo for each. There are instructions for how to knit and how to crochet and make fringe in the front of the book, but the acompanying pictures are line drawings in black and to me are atrocious. I learned to knit and crochet from such awful drawings years ago and they were not clear then and are not now. Many other books have real photographs and much better how-to instructions. But the patterns here are wonderful. To some folks, they are probably old-fashioned and many are going to be somewhat difficult and/or time-consuming, but with so many to choose from it's easy to be inspired. Some, like the Irish Fisherman Afghans are absolutely beautiful and there are 7 of them in this one book. This is an oldie but a goodie, and well-worth the price. |
