This is certainly a good product for the money, but be careful. Retinol products like this one can do a real number on sensitive skin. If you are just starting to use products such as this one, seriously consider using the lowest strength product first. I know that when the lines start showing on your face, your first inclination is to use the highest strength product available. But if your skin is sensitive or not used to retinol products, you may end up with much more peeling than you anticipated and/or be stuck with turning your skin into something that feels like a face mask. So please, start with the 1x product and work your way up.

Obagi products are supposed to be used with Retin A or tretinoin (same thing). However, I didn't want the super crazy dry peely skin and I wanted to ease my skin slowly into the stronger prescription strength Retin A. Retinol is a milder form, non prescription strength, of the same active ingredient which I believe is Vitamin A. Anyway, this stuff worked AMAZINGLY WELL with Obagi. Before I ever even tried the tretinoin, this in combo with the skin lightener in Obagi completely cleared up my mild melasma. There is no sign of it at all now. No hyperpigmentation, not dark spots. My boyfriend is a doc and he is always telling me how nice my skin looks for my age.

Not as harsh as tretinoin, but will still cause dryness and peeling...so go easy until you are used to it.
