Headphone Commute Review,
This review is from: Afraid to Dance (Audio CD)
In this electronic shoegaze album, a Genoa based post-rock band explores everything from glitchy beats to ambient vocal overlays. Currently consisting of five members, Port-Royal is a band that has rotated various members throughout the years, yet managed to keep a consistent sound. Listening to Afraid To Dance, one can soak in the sense of loneliness and a desire to wander through an early morning fog only to get lost among the oldest Italian streets. The music of Port-Royal incorporates carefully synthesized pads, dreamy space-rock guitars, and at times, distorted, solid beats, with arrangements swirling among transparent boundaries of one's mind, combining the ethers with oxygen, only to leave a slight trace of memory on the surface. Port-Royal is at the forefront of the movement that bridges the multiple modern genres together into an amalgam of what we can proudly call music.

This review is from: Afraid To Dance (MP3 Download)
This group from Genoa is great if you like instrumental/electronic music like Ulrich Schnauss...it's not dance music, rather good for driving, relaxing and so on. The album was available for streaming on port-royal's website, but I haven't checked lately because I bought a digital copy from amazon.
