5.0 out of 5 stars Best African recording ever
Wow! This is it right here. Let me start off by saying that I hate packaged world music compilations. You know the type, The Best of Africa, crap like that. This is raw and where it's at. A bunch of field recordings from street musicians. It doesn't get any better. There is nothing slick or produced, just as it would sound if you found a bunch of guys sitting on the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Copy or original?
I'm astonished that the upper side of this CD
is pasted with an original library number. So
I assume it is an original of the library, not a
copy as described.

A bunch of field recordings from street musicians. It doesn't get any better. There is nothing slick or produced, just as it would sound if you found a bunch of guys sitting on the corner playing and singing away or if you came across an entire village in the middle of a night time healing ritual.

Having spent time in Africa with some serious musicians i can say first hand that if you want the real thing then this is it. Buy it, don't delay

THIS IS A CD OF WEST AFRICAN MUSIC RECORDED IN THE FIELD BY AFRICAN STREET MUSICIANS. THIS IS A RARE TREAT. I HAVE DEVELOPED AN INTEREST IN WEST AFRICAN MUSIC, AND ENJOY LISTENING TO MORE MAINSTREAM PROFESSIONAL AFRICAN MUSICIANS, BUT YOU JUST CAN'T BEAT THIS STUFF. YOU MIGHT FIND ANY OF THE MUSICANS ON THIS CD PLAYING ON A STREET CORNER SOMEWHERE IN AFRICA. LOTS OF GREAT PERCUSSION, CHANTING, CALL AND RESPONSE, AND NATIVE AFRICAN STRINGED INSTRUMENTS.
