Willard Price transformed my life.,
By A Customer
This review is from: African Adventure (Red Fox Older Fiction) (Mass Market Paperback)
Willard Price was one of my favorite authors when I was in 4th Grade. I sought out every one of his books and read it cover to cover and have many happy memories of countless afternoons being transported through his books into exciting and exotic lands... paddling down the Amazon River or diving into the South Seas. I have read Artic Adventure at least 4 times, African Adventure and South Sea Adventure at least twice. I thorougly recommend any of these books to GIRLS as well as boys. These books helped instil in me the passion to travel and see the world, to value other cultures, people and animals. I carry these insights with me to this day when I've embarked on my own real-life travels through countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Singapore, England, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, China, Hong Kong and of course, my current home the States. I intend to buy an entire collection of his books for my own library if I can track them all down. I think they should be all be re-published again!

I too read all the Hunt Boys books as a child, and I'm very much a girl. These are good stories for all ages and all gender. Some were written I think after I stopped reading them, and as soon as I get the cash I plan to buy all that I can find. One of the areas he wrote about, the Mountains of the Moon, are in Rwanda and the Parc de Volcans, today the site of much revolution, as well as the venue for Diane Fossey's mountain gorilla studies. They are NOT in libraries any more. I very much recommend these for the scientifically minded child.

Willard Price was my favorite author in elementary and junior high school (I am 41 now). His stories are about a man and his sons (focus on the sons) who travel the world. There is a strong educational and conservationist theme through the series of books without taking away from the adventure.Like the John Wayne movie "The Cowboys", this book will have boy believing he can do anything he sets his mind to. My older sons loved the few books available in the library, but I never saw them available for sale before. I'm getting them for my younger boys and future grandchildren.
