I am always on the lookout for fun, educational books for my kids. This one was fantastic! There were great pictures and fun facts on lots of different animals, (some of which I'd never even heard of!) My little boy thought it was great!

3.0 out of 5 stars could have been better May 4, 2013

I didn't think the photos of animals selected were good at all. I didn't find the book that funny. It's an ok children's book. Some of the fun facts had some thinking questions at the end that readers could ask children. Having questions like those after all the fun facts would have been nice

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice book for children of around seven November 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is a straight forward alphabetical list of African animals with one for each letter of the alphabet. The pictures are mostly reasonably good. The facts given (one for each animal) are basic.
This book can serve as a moderately interesting book that children of around seven should like, or as one that can be read to children too young to read properly, and discussed with them afterwards.
Despite what I just wrote, I did learn a few things from the book, despite being an adult who has studied and written about animals.

4.0 out of 5 stars ABC SAFARI March 5, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author of this book targeted for children aged preschool through first grade achieves the three objectives that she set forth: introducing children to lesser known African animals, finding an animal for each alphabet letter, and giving some quick and interesting facts for each animal. I must admit learning a few new facts, the horn of a rhino is made of keratin like our fingernails, a giraffe's tongue is 18 inches long, and an elephant's trunk can be used as an extra foot.

I thought the animals and facts chosen were interesting, but the pictures were a bit small and, in some instances, difficult to see clearly. Still the book is put together well, and a lot more interesting than most ABC books. This book is appropriate for the targeted audience.

More About the Author

Deborah Bradley grew up as a proud Bostonian; She spent years enjoying baseball games at Fenway Park, summer vacations on Cape Cod, and riding "the T" to get wherever she needed.

In her mid-twenties, life took her to the other side of the world, and what started out as 4 months in Australia turned into 10 amazing years.

While in Oz, Deborah married a "good Aussie bloke", produced a blond-haired, blued-eyed daughter (something she couldn't have imagined in her wildest dreams), and then convinced them to spend some time on "her side of the world."

Deborah is now the mother of three charismatic little girls who stretch and challenge her daily while, simultaneously, giving her the most extraordinary joy.

She is truly grateful to all of them for having inspired her and given her the confidence to become a children's book author. Without them, the possibility would never have been born.
