5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't ask for anything more
A lot of times I have bought things (stores and on-line) that have not lived up to my expectations. Fortunately, this book does. In fact, it has surpassed my expectations.

The lines are clean and there is room to add vivid color. The patterns and pictures are very rustic and combine work from different countries/tribes. The captions below tell you not only...

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better...
The images of this adult coloring book were of extreme variation of quality and detail. I preferred the detailed images and found some useful for my own artwork; however, most left me with a boring feeling. I definitely prefer the Egyptian Designs Coloring Book that is available, especially since the images in this book are back-to-back, unlike the Egyptian one. Yet...

This review is from: African Designs Coloring Book (Dover Design Coloring Books) (Paperback)

The captions below tell you not only where the design was taken from but also where the design was located (ex. Border: Design - Nigeria; Center: Detail from painting from Oku Wall - Ibo people). Every piece is breath taking how the art work from different countries/tribes accentuate each other. This is the best coloring book I have ever owned.

The only drawl back is that the pictures are printed on both sides of the paper. I have chosen to make copies of the picture before I add color to them. This also allows me to do a particular picture over again until the colors and artwork dance flawlessly together on the page.

I preferred the detailed images and found some useful for my own artwork; however, most left me with a boring feeling. I definitely prefer the Egyptian Designs Coloring Book that is available, especially since the images in this book are back-to-back, unlike the Egyptian one. Yet there are more images available in the African book, so that is why I gave it 3 stars instead of two...and I have enjoyed the few that I have colored with colored pencils.
