Well-known artists on this album include Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Toumani Diabaté and Samite. The sweet sound of newcomers Mapumba, from the Congo, and Chiwoniso, from Zimbabwe, are also featured.

A portion of proceeds from the sale of this CD will be donated to NextAid, a non-profit organization committed to developing and implementing innovative solutions to the challenges facing African children.

I bought Dreamland & African Dreamland last week, and this one arrived today, and it's great! Very calming music to play during the bedtime routine, and best of all, it's the type of CD you can play on repeat & not get sick of.


I'm a big fan of the Putumayo Presents series, and so far, I haven't had any disappointments with any of them.

The latest in the "Dreamland" series of music CDs, African Dreamland is a treat for listeners of all ages, featuring peaceful and relaxing melodies by African singers. Some songs are purely vocal; others are accompanied by traditional instruments such as the kora, mbira, and balafon. All are a wonderful lullaby tunes ideal for helping listeners young or old drift off to sleep. The tracks (representing a diversity of African nations and cultures) are "Nomathemba", "Mimi", "Lonon", "Douyore", "Agalilala", "Usa Cheme", "Ikope Ye Tollo", "Mali Sadio", "Salaman", "Kula Bebe", and "Sao Horas de Dormir"; liner notes in English, Spanish, French, and German are included. I searched high and low for CDs to play for my baby at bedtime that I could enjoy, too. Out of all the CDs that I tried, this is far and away my favorite. The music is gorgeous and relaxing for both baby and mom.
