Book Description

Happy Healthy Pet March 23, 1998
This is our seventh set of Happy, Healthy Pet titles. These are books pet owners can turn to for the essential information they need to raise a healthy pet. All books contain information on:
  • feeding
  • housing
  • grooming
  • health care
  • what to expect from the pet
  • basic training
As our series expands and focuses on different kinds of pets, the emphasis remains on making the pet a companion. In addition, owners of more unusual pets will particularly appreciate the expert advice in these books because professional care for their animals may be difficult to come by. As always, the instruction is from experts–people who know their pet intimately, but also remember what it was like to have one for the first time. Happy, Healthy Pet guides are rich with professional quality color photos and are designed to be enjoyable and easy to learn from.

4.0 out of 5 stars The African Grey (An Owner's guide to a Happy Healthy Pet), January 21, 2000
This review is from: The African Grey: An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet (Hardcover)
Though I'm a first time owner of an African Grey, I've found that this is the first book that breeders themselves would buy. It gives a good overall look at care of the bird and is a must read before purchasing a Grey. I've found very few pieces of information that didn't apply to my own pet. The breeder that I purchased my Grey from was a cynic as far as books on parrots were concerned, but I brought him my own copy as he had urged me to subscribe to Bird Talk magazine. I gave him my copy which he read and found to be the best source of information for Greys outside of Bird Talk. He was very familiar with the author's pet Grey as she was an editor for Bird Talk for nine years. This book is such an invaluable guide to have that I purchased another copy for myself and recommend it for anyone with a Grey. Very easy to read too!

4.0 out of 5 stars very informative, November 17, 1999
This review is from: The African Grey: An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet (Hardcover)
I thought it was an excellent book, although I also bought the Essential African Grey at the same time and the later is basically newer revised edition of the former book. Much of the text is exactly the same for less money.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book for the Beginner, December 24, 1999
By
This review is from: The African Grey: An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet (Hardcover)
For a person that has past experience with African greys, it is more preferable to find a book with more technical information and "inside" data. This book is good for all those who are starting and would like a general idea on Greys.
