About the Author

Dr. Llaila Afrika is a nutrition consultant, massge therapist, historian, writer and a Doctor of Naturopathy. He has studied in Africa, Europe and America. Llaila believes that each of his clients (from the children to the elderly) have been among his teachers and is fully indebted to them all. He contends that good health does not belong exclusively to any culture or race, but is a human right and a product of nature. Llaila's background includes serving in the Medical Core in the military and several years experience as a psychotherapist. He has used herbal and other holistic treatments exclusively since the early 1970's.

This is addressed to all of the reviewers who didnt give this a 5 star.
I'm not going to bash or anything. Because that is not the type of person that i represent myself as.
However i must express certain truth rather if its liked or not.
Afterall, for some to give Dr Afrika bad reviews and try to criticize what he knows "which is far beyond any of us". Due to somes very limited perception in which they've of him
I'd then be foolish to waist precious energy correcting the misguided ignorant comments!
The truth is this: What we currently hold to have always been normal throughout current generations. Well after a little in depth research is employed. It becomes apparent then that we're interpreting things from a totally unhealthy abnormal perspective now.

Particular authors such as "Queen Afua" is addressing conditions and how to balance and treat them accordingly to our current conditions and circumstances.
Her information on "Menstruation" should already be understood that she is purely addressing the here and now perspective on things.
On the other hand: Dr.Afrika is addressing the "historical causes" in which took place throughout time. Which made the current condition manifest.
After "hollistically" reading "both authors" then putting them in their deserving perspectives.
A people then does not see any contradiction nor conflict in subject matter within the two of their writings whatsoever.

Its about "knowing" how to "discern" the important things spoken about in the past, and how those things've affected our way of living in the present. Example:When a family has a "Hereditary condition" in which started way back in their past. It can "Potentially" affect all current family offspring.

African Holistic Health is a must have for Any home. The information contained in this book is like having a PDR, Physicians Desk Reference, Back To Eden, and a Medical Encyclopedia. The Bonus is: African Holistic Health includes information unknown and unused in the medical community; it fills in significant gaps.

I recommend this book for any person who in interested in improving and maintaining health.

Best Medical Reference I have EVER seen or owned that caters to the genetic makeup and needs of Afrikan descendants. Period. I recommend it to all members of the Afrikan Diaspora who are trying to obtain knowledge of self and use natural medicines and methods that have in turn been used successfully for TENS OF THOUSANDS of years across the world.

I just got this book 2 days ago and haven't put it down! What an eye OPENER; from being taught all my life about all these WHITE achievements in science and technological ADVANCES in research for our health benefit. Just to find out these "DISCOVERIES" were already here from AFRICAN KNOWLEDGE and disguised as some MODERN ADVANCEMENT! So this book is nice and really hits home for me being a woman of color and having a family to take care of. It's time for us BLACK FOLKS to start reconditioning our minds and realize that THIS AMERICAN GOVERNMENT DOESN'T HAVE OUR BEST INTEREST!!!! Please BROTHERS AND SISTERS READ!!! Knowledge is POWER :-D

This book lead me in the right direction towards enlightenment. It is ideal for the black aspirant of complete health (wholistic), while good for people of all races. It covers a wide variety of material concerning holistic health, human existance, psychology, behaviour, and also differnces between races. One might read this book and think that L.Afrika is racist, but the concept of racism is an illusion of the mind imposed unto us by our own ignorance of Self, and backed by a corrupt system of injustice.

Re. the previous reviewer:

1-2 cups of salt??????? Are you insane??? That had to have been a miss-print. For you to judge the book off of that miss-information shows your complete lack of judgement and common sense.

The book has some very interesting info and thoughts. There are suggestions and treatments that could be made much clearer and may not be for everyone. I personally don't agree with everything the author has to say regarding ethnomedicine, but that may be my lack of knowledge. His interpretations regarding other races are a bit baffling as well. Understand however that I question everything---from the "highest qualified authority" of the USDA, FDA, etc, to someone's anecdotal suggestions.I'm reviewing some of the sources and bibliographic material listed in the book. Every now and then typos or sentence syntax problems get in the way. I point this out because minor problems like this could involve the author sharing pertinent information. If you can handle gaining some useful info (again, I strongly suggest to check it out for yourself), and can, as the saying goes, "get the meat and leave the bones," this could serve as a reference source for one's herbal, medicinal library.
