The ANC, led by Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, and Oliver Tambo, was, in partnership with the South African Communist Party and the Congress of South African Trade Unions, the core of the movement against the white supremacist Apartheid regime in South Africa. The racist regime ended with Nelson Mandela assuming the presidency in the first free elections in South Africa's history. Included are ANC documents such as the" Freedom Charter", the "Programme of Action", and "Colonialism of a Special Type". Preface gives a brief history of apartheid.
