Mokhtar says, "fifteen years there were no drumset players in Africa...we're just starting to develop this art form..." Talk about hitting the ground running (in first place)! This new book is an important addition to a small but growing list of excellent method books that apply traditional African rhythms, from many of its countries, to the drumset. If you work one chapter after another, you will really learn all the rhythms and styles. Mokhtar Samba is my secret favourite drummer!
