A really good book on African Martial Arts. Basic fundamentals, concepts, and philosophies are explained. Techniques are very basic and universal. Due to the lack of books on the subject, this is a must have for anyone into the lesser known Martial Arts. The included CD was really good too.

When I decided to write Sword and Sorcery based on African culture, history and traditions I immediately set on a quest to discover African martial arts. There was never any question in my mind they existed, it was only a matter of locating them. It was during this search that I discovered The Warrior within. Since that time I'm met the author and had the chance to observe his work personally. As a martial artist trained in Chinese and Japanese martial arts as well as American boxing, the simplicity and effectiveness of Balogun's style was immediately apparent. The Warrior Within is a literary extension of his skills and wisdom. It's a must have for anyone interested in having a full view of martial arts and a foundation in its Afrikan roots.

This book shows a plethora of techniques that have very useful applications. But more importantly it shows and explains the history and meaning behind the martial applications.

i liked the book for its martial content but was upset to read in the intro by the friend of the author making KKK comments about americans not agreeing with his agendas. this is not the view of afrikaans ive met and dont think this the place for politics. the martial tecniques are well displayed and executed.
