I've noticed lately that a lot of these reviews have been on the series itself. Let me provide you with a review on the product. Quite simply, it's top notch. The quality is amazing, far better than what I expected or remembered from the TV broadcast. The set contains two thin DVD cases, each with it's own artwork. Each case contains two discs. The original series, Afro Samurai-the five episode set, are contained on the first disc in the first case. Unlike previous director's cuts, they are separate episodes. The second disc contains the series' special features. Likewise, Resurrection is contained on the third disc in the second case, and it's bonus features are contained on the fourth disc. The actual case that houses both of the thinner cases is slightly larger than a normal DVD case and opens like a book-it doesn't snap shut like a standard DVD case. At the prices these sellers are offering, this is a steal, just for the neat looking case alone :) I highly recommend this product to anyone seeking to own this series. You won't be disappointed.

Afro Samurai is a great anime with a very nice story and well designed characters. It also has it's comical moments and it is very very action packed. I watched this on a 42inch Insignia and the video quality is stunning. Audio also sounds great. Highly recommend this for anime fan, action fans, or anyone who wants a good well developed story with lots of blood, carnage and revenge.

Disc 1 Contains the first 5 episodes which is Afro Samurai: Season 1 and Disc 2 contains the movie Afro Samurai:Resurrection.

If you own the previous version of these on Blu-ray, there is no reason to buy this. The special features are basically the same. Also, i noticed that the afro samurai individual releases came with artwork booklet while this release came with no booklet, it only has a slipcover instead and different artwork for the disc

Amazon recommends that you buy this ALONG with Afro Samurai: Season One - Director's Cut [Blu-ray] and Afro Samurai: Resurrection (Director's Cut/ Blu-ray). That's what I ended up doing. Thing is, though, that all this is is both of those two sets together. Buy EITHER season one & Resurrection together, OR get the Complete Murder Sessions, there's no reason for both, unless you want to keep either/or in the shrink wrap as a collector's piece, which really isn't such a bad idea.

If I could sum up this show in a single sentence it would be "style over substance". At first glance that sounds like a negative, ignorant bashing of a much loved anime. It's not, in fact it's a high complement from me when I say that something has so much style, so much impressively animated fighting and so much cool that I don't even care that the story is lackluster. It's a story about one man's bloody quest of vengeance, which is fine, because it's exactly what I expected and what I payed for. If you want an anime that is serious and has more story than anything else I encourage you to look elsewhere. If you want you're looking for something that is entertaining, gory, violent, and feels like a Tarintino movie minus the plot, than you've found what you're looking for. The story isn't amazing, but the way that's it's presented, through flashback sequences, makes it more interesting. The way the show is presented and the way the fighting is done to the fitting hip-hop/rap soundtrack is great. I really liked this show, but to enjoy it like I did you have to meet these qualifications.

-You don't mind excessive blood and gore.
-You don't mind sexual content.
-You don't mind that the story isn't amazing or extremely though provoking.
-Violent semi futuristic sword fighting entertains you.

If you can meet those qualifications or the majority of them, you'll enjoy this show. If not then you've already made up your mind and are putting in your next show in the search bar.

This is a classic in my opinion for anime-lovers. It has gratuitous violence and a pretty good story (granted it centers on revenge). Otherwise there are plenty of other underlying messages/themes to keep you entertained. The artwork is great, consistent and detailed. Highly recommended.

Well its finally here, Afro Samurai the complete murder sessions on Blu-Ray. What do you get in this package you ask? Well, with this package you get two discs. Disc one contains all five episodes of season 1 of Afro Samurai, and about an hour of extra features like interviews, and a "Making Of" documentary. Disc two contains the full length feature film Afro Samurai Resurrection, and another hour of extra features. Now also, be aware that these are both the Directors Cut versions, so you'll see alot of footage they didn't show on television, and hear the language that was edited out. You'll especially realize this in Afro Samurai Resurrection, which has about eight minutes of additional footage. Now for those of you who haven't seen the series, this is a perfect chance to catch up with the rest of us! This is the entire series so far in one set, for under 25$! If that isn't a steal then I don't know what is! Anyways, both the series and the movie look great on Blu-Ray, but Resurrection looks the best, which is understandable, since its the movie, and it was released I think two years after the show. Anyways, Afro Samurai The Complete Murder Sessions is a must for any Afro Samurai fan who doesn't own the series yet, and if you want to watch the series but didn't want to pay twenty for the series alone, and another twenty for the movie, this is the perfect opporitunity! Don't miss out! 5/5!

you have the first season regular dvd, which i have, then you have the resurrection dvd, which i also have, then the complete murder sessions regular dvd, then the blu-ray for each individually, and finally, you have the blu-ray Afro Samurai: The Complete Murder Sessions. Which i now have. Hopefully this is the last one, because if they come out with some other 5 disc special edition blu-ray collection, ill probably have to get that too. You cant just watch the second afro samurai without having seen the first season first. so you have to get both. and if your gonna get both, you minus well just get them in a box set. so. here you go. get this.
storylines awesome, the graphics are awesome, the characters are awesome, everythings awesome. there, to my knowledge, is no other anime like this one. if your even mildly interested, im giving you the okay.

This is definately for adults in my opinion but i thought it was a good story and a great series.

samuel jackson is one of the voice actors! great series, very very bloody. Which is awesome for an anime which really do help bring out the visual aspects of the series. I only wish there was more episodes to the series but awesome series none-the-less.

This is one of those animations that stand out. It is an action movie wrap in a good story. As animation goes, it is worth every penny. The sequel is just as good as the original
