This review is from: Afrocentric Bride: A Style Guide (Paperback)
If you are looking for a book packed with beautiful color pictures of brides, makeup, hair styles and how tos, I don't think this book will quite do it for you.
Looking at the stunning bride in her fantastic gown on the cover, makes you think that you will be spending hours thumbing through pages of colorful photos. Instead, the only relief you get from the monotony of the black and white is a six page color ad for Therez Fleetwoods wedding dress collection. Sprinkled in between black and white photos of gorgeous models wearing Fleetwood's gowns are grainy photos of "real brides" wearing afrocentric wedding attire that may or may not be Fleetwood's creations. I really couldn't tell because of the lost detail that usually results from black and white photography.. Don't misunderstand, I don't see anything wrong with black and white pictures, but NOT in a book like this. Color and detail is what bridal books should be all about. If you are looking for beautiful pictures and how tos, keep looking. . |
