This review is from: After the Crash: Assessment and Treatment of Motor Vehicle Accident Survivors (Hardcover)
Those in the fields of psychology/psychiatry are obviously the intended audience for this book. However, as a long-term PTSD sufferer, I found this book to be very helpful. Because this book, in essence, is the published results of a long-term study, there are plenty of charts and statistical data to read/interpret that the general public may find to be exhausting at times. The third section of the book was particularly helpful in several ways. I found the information to be re-assuring in the sense that it seems like the majority of the research from this project indicates that my experience with PTSD is not too far out-of-the-ordinary for survivors of severe trauma related to motor vehicle accidents (MVA's). Since the book states that PTSD related to MVA's is one of the fastest growing problems in America, I would hope that many others in the psychological, psychiatric, and counseling fields would take the opportunity to read and study the information contained in this book - if for no other reason than to help patients like me. Though I believe that there are other factors of PTSD that were not covered in this particular study, I believe that this book is a really good start.
