"After Dark" is Andy Gibb's last studio album and all the songs were written or co-written by brother Barry. Andy only contributed writing on two sings. No matter. All ten songs showcase his singing talents. The Gibb brothers all sing together on the top hit "Desire" and Andy handles a nice duet, "I Can't Help It", with old family friend, Olivia Newton-John. Rock/Funkiness shines through on songs, "Wherever You Are", "Warm Ride" and the title track. Most of the remaining songs are true Gibb tearjerkers, but "Dreamin' On" is a stand out and a great finale. Not a bad swan song at all.

In early 1980,Andy Gibb's third and final album of all-original recordings was released. Andy's contract with RSO records was nearing expiration and was never renewed. In November 1980,his final hit TIME IS TIME debuted on the radio,according to Norm N. Nite's Rock On Almanac. That song was either an outtake from this album or recorded after the release of this album. Around 1980,Andy was romantically involved with actress Victoria Principal,who was then a cast member of the CBS drama DALLAS. Hits from this album include:I CAN'T HELP IT,a duet with Olivia Newton-John(ONJ is courtesy of MCA Records) and DESIRE,with moral support from Andy's brother Barry. Also there's REST YOUR LOVE ON ME which was also recorded by the Bee Gees themselves and the late Conway Twitty. Sadly,Andy's career was slowly starting to falter. He had a cocaine and heroin addiction that would last until his death in 1988. As the eighties began,there was less mention of him in teen magazines than in 1977 to '79. All the other songs are good.

I just received this CD in the mail and I listened to it immediately. When I was about 15 years old I owned this album and now in my 30's I bought it again and still remember the words to these songs. Great album, great guy. I just wish we could hear more from him than the 5 albums he left us with.

I had this album on record when it first came out and like any Bee Gees one I held it in high regard. I have all of Andy's albums and thankfully Polygram decided to reissue them on CD a few years back. This is definately my favorite (apart from the Greatest hits package which is also available through Amazon). The hits here are outstanding; After Dark, Desire (like listening to the Bee Gees with Andy) & Desire. Also the fantastic duets with Olivia Newton John : I can't help it & Rest Your'e Love on Me. the later was also recorded for the Bee Gees Greatest album by his brothers. My favorite tracks Wherever You Are & Warm Ride. They capture Andy at his best with big brother Barry on backgroud vocals. Warm Ride is the song the Bee Gees penned for Graham Bonnet, but listening to this version you would think it was mean't for Andy. I love both versions, but this one is just so special. Like with any of Andy's albums, expect great compositions from the Gibb brothers, production from Barry Gibb and you have great listening. As a Bee Gees and Andy Gibb fan I see this as an essential part of my collection.

I love Andy....(I know...he always had Barry on his side...co-writing....)but thats' the way it used to be back then....He didn't pretend that there was a big Bee Gee influence in his music....He was proud of it...and thats the way...it should be....He had a similar voice..yet distinctive and characteristic.....His songs were all beautifull and smooth...!!! This album has 2 great duet songs with Olivia...plus a kick.....sss version of "Warm Ride"... The cover is awesome....The entire album is great!!

"After Dark" is my favorite Andy CD. 8 out of the 10 songs on this album I really enjoy. After Dark, Desire, Wherever you are and Warm ride are excellent sexy dance tunes. Andy's duets with Olivia Newton John stand the test of time. "Falling in love with you" is a beautiful song and a overlooked Andy ballad. "Someone I aint" is a very touching and gentle little gem. Too bad this was Andy's last Album. The 80's could have been Andy's turn for super stardom after the Bees Gees' fame began to go downhill. Andy could have enjoyed the success he really wanted. But it was not to be.

There are a number of fine songs on Andy's final full-leagth album,including the title song,Warm Ride,the Olivia Newton-John duets Rest Your Love On Me & I Can't Help It,and the hit Desire(with his sibling brothers the Bee Gees),even if it suggested that Andy's career would not survive in the 1980's.

ANDY'S VOICE IS AT THE TOP AND THE DUETS WITH OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN ARE UNFORGETTABLE
