I recently found Leather Strip and have really liked them until now. I hated this album. I would have to say my favorite LS album is Self-Inflicted which has a heavy, industrial feel and screaming vocals. After the Devastation felt more like pop sounding techno, with lyrics like "Daddy please love me"

Maybe it is because I only know a couple of LS albums, but I did not like this one at all. I thought it would be awesome when I bought it after hearing Self-Inflicted and their best of album and reading the other reviews on amazon. Not for me.

If you're into industrial like me...Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Slick Idiot, Ministry, Pig, RevCo, Front Line Assembly, to name a few...This album is probably not for you, but I would check out some of Leather Strip's albums from the late 90's.

I like Leather Strip, and I don't think this album lacks in talent. However, I agree with the review below, this isn't a Leather Strip album. The music is verry popish, and in some ways it brings to mind the kind of music that they often play at gay bars. Gay disco/electro pop? Anyways, there are a few moments where I get the EBM vibe such as "happy pills", even less of the moments where I get the industrial or coldwave vibe, I mostly feel that this is is a pop album. I actually hate a few songs on this album to be quite honest. Yes, it is still dark, just not verry good. There are 2 Cd's on this album, and the production isn't terrible, and there are a handful of decent tracks. Overall, it's not a great buy, and certainly a dissapointing album for Leather Strip, considering taht Claus Larsen (LS frontman) is one of the pioneers of the terror ebm/hellectro scene. This is none of that, rather, more of a pop techno record.

And he's back with a double cd! Get this, it's well worth the money! All new material! Having said that, if you're not familiar with Claus Larsen/ Leaether Strip then he's one of the most talented industrial musicians you'll ever hear. After the Devastation sounds like one of his most personal albums ever. The lyrics dig into his personal life, homophobia, his childhood etc. A much different sound than his earlier material such as Solitary Confinement from years back. Not as heavy or upbeat but just as powerful and meaningful. Fans of Leaether Strip should be pleased. I'm listening to this album at this very moment. Well worth the money!

Alot of people are saying that they were dissapionted with Clause Larsen's comeback album. However, there are a few things to consider. Clause had just arrived back on the scene after going through a great deal of loss and heartache. After listening to this album, it is very apparrent that the songs on this one were an outlet for some of the pain and frustration he had been going through. He manages to relay the feelings very well, and some of the tracks really hit home for me. I must admit that like many other fans, I was expecting a much harder hitting slew of angry tracks that we have come to know from this artist. As any other artist will tell you, sometimes change is good for healing. After listening to the album more, I began to appreciate each track and realized that they still held that certain darkness, and though more subdued, the anger as well. Sometimes change is a good thing, and we should all be glad that Leaether Strip has returned. I would much prefer to label this album not as a bad one, but a different one.

I was a little dissapointed with this album, but I wouldn't say it sucks by any means. It's still Leather Strip, and it's still electro industrial music. However, this album is more pop friendly than prior releases, and Claus Larsen gets much more emotional and personal on this record than he ever has before. All of the songs are decent, though they do all sound alike, and the only track that I really love the hell out of is "Suicide Bombers". One other thing that is nice about this album, is that there are two CD's instead of one, and they are both fully loaded with new material. If your a LS fan than you must get this, but if your new to this band, I don't suggest starting here.
