One of the best punk albums ever.,
This review is from: After The Fall (Audio CD)
I don't take music very lightly. I first bought this album because i liked their songs on the Punk-O-Rama compilations. 98 Mute is criticized for their songs sounding the same and just being another typical fast punk band, but this couldn't be more wrong. I'll admit that i had to listen to this album several times before i truely understood it for all it's worth. but when you consider everything that makes this album... optimistic, intense lyrics about social problems, fast, talented music with enough variety to keep your attention; and an overall adreniline that you feel after the 36 minutes of pleasure. unfortunately, 98 Mute broke up after the release of this album, but in my mind, it will remain to be one of the best punk rock records ever released. give it a chance, it will change your life.

Shit hot!,
By Punk Rocka "noddy" (New Zealand) - See all my reviews

I've listened to hardcore punk for over 21 years but only heard of 98 Mute through Hellcats' 'Give em the Boot' compilations. The stirring track M.A.D lead me to this album and thank god it did! M.A.D is pure genius and 98 Mute are pure punk. The political, social and spiritual awareness contained within the content integrated with raw energy and passion makes for a highly successful album that was their parting grace from a punk scene that was starting to dwindle into commercialism.
Listen to what they have to say and it still applies today. Listen to how they say it if you can handle the energy. Listen to real punk from a real punk band with something to say. If the sheer intensity of Bullet for You and M.A.D don't stir you then maybe the classic poetic line 'Cocaine, heroin, crystal methamphetamine...' might. Punks not dead when you crank this masterpiece and feel the attitude alive and well. Enjoy. It's a shame that all good things come to an end. Bravo.
