This review is from: After The Fall (Paperback)
Ryan wrote another great book! After the Fall was an excellent read. As was her first novel, it is very well-written. I learned alot reading this book.In my opinion, the flow of the story was very different from the first novel (Saving Grace), but I think you will enjoy this book. You know a book is good when it can bring out different emotions within you. I fell in love with this authors writing style with the first book. Ryan is an excellent writer and I look forward to more of her novels. ( Ryan you're still my favorite!!) M.S

The interesting thing about this story is the reader literally is like a fly on the wall. You encounter two characters and their journeys in different directions, different paths and how they both cope with tragedy as well as the answer to the question of what happens after the fall? Very inspirational, very uplifting and fulfilling as I would recommend this to anyone.

Think Before You Act,
This review is from: After The Fall (Paperback)
Abigail (Abby) Walker and Jarvis Daniels spent months apart because of Abigail's music career. Whenever Abby decided to step away from her fabulous life in Chicago and return home to Detroit for a visit, she and Jarvis would end up in each other's arms as if they've never been apart. Jarvis wanted more, but Abby was fine with their "friends with benefits" arrangement. When she made her feelings known to Jarvis, he reacted in a way that drastically changed both of their lives. What happened to Abby and Jarvis was sad and also a bit disturbing. I wasn't sure I wanted to read any more after the second chapter, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone, so I could find out how the lives of these two people turned out. The story was touching, funny at times (loved Abby's spunk) and inspiring.

After reading Saving Grace and Fall from Grace, I was expecting big things from After the Fall. However, I was disappointed in the long drawn out story with a cheesy ending.

This book was not as engaging as the first novel, Saving Grace. I ended up skimming through about halfway into it. I was so looking forward to reading it. I LOVED Saving Grace, but After the Fall didn't make the cut for me.

I love this author, she is a brilliant writer. I still love Saving Grace the best, but this book did not disappoint at all. The author must do a sequel to this book so that we know that Abby is okay. I loved how she kept the characters real and didn't sugar coat how the real world is and how cruel it can be. One day you can have "everything" and the next nothing and who is left standing next to you...and not just standing there but being a true friend. I love this book and am awaiting the sequel...get to writing Ryan!

I absolutely loved Saving Grace and the author did not let me down with this one. I know that when I choose a book by her, I will certainly get an eye opener. I loved how the characters were completely transformed. I look forward to the sequel to this one and to her first novel as well. Keep on writing, you are doing a great job!

Abby and Jarvis have been dating for what seems like forever and appeared destined to make a life together until Abby's drive to succeed in the world of classical music takes her away from Detroit and into a new world as an up-and-coming cellist. After she moves to Chicago to pursue her dream and Jarvis continues in a comfortable but less than stellar life working a regular day job and living with his Mom, their relationship deteriorates into occasional "hook-ups" when Abby is in town. Through it all Jarvis is holding firm to his hope that their history will bring Abby back to him. When it becomes clear that Abby will continue to pursue her hopes and dreams and float in and out of his life at her will, Jarvis loses it emotionally will driving Abby during one of her increasingly infrequent visits. This ill-timed fit of rage leads to a near-fatal accident which changes both Abby and Jarvis's life trajectories significantly. In this novel, Ryan Phillips takes us on a journey as these characters whose lives have been forever changed work to examine themselves to find out what they are truly made of. The intertwining of their individual stories and their search for themselves and their exploration of their belief and relationship with God makes for a fascinating story. Far different from her first novel, this book by Ms. Phillips is no less intriguing or well-crafted.

Another excellent read. I appreciate the fact that Ms. Phillips doesn't fall into the familiar plot line that a lot of Christian authors tend towards. I've read a fair amount of Christian fiction literature, and I have to say Ms. Phillips is definitely one of the more refreshingly original ones out there. The characters are believable, the kind of people you can relate to. Great read all around... I don't think I'll be the only person to lose sleep with this one. I definitely encourage everyone to check it out.
