Editorial Reviews

Fifteen years after the events of FALL (MGM, 1997), This daring sequel continues the story of Michael, now in his mid forties, who is suicidal about his floundering writing career. He leaves his home in New York and goes to Paris in hopes of igniting his passion for writing and life, where he meet Sophie as sexy and smart nurse who leads a mysterious double life. AFTER FALL, WINTER is a dangerous, sexy, and at times darkly funny story about two people who desperately want intimacy. Written, Directed and starring ERIC SCHAEFFER (Adventureland, One Night at McCool s) and DEBORAH TWISS (Kick-Ass, Pawn).

I've only known about this movie for a short while but it's an instant favorite of mine, and Eric Schaeffer is my newest favorite director/writer/actor. This is beyond description. Just watch it.

I was truly moved and deeply effected by the movie.
Eric Schaeffer is fearless in his writing and acting.

I will begin by stating that I am an avid Eric Schaeffer fan. Fall is perhaps one of my favorite films of all time. Elements of that kind of psychologically nuanced, gifted story-telling are present in After Fall, Winter in the way the central love affair is depicted. However, what felt like a forced grafting of sadomasochistic themes and suicidal preoccupations onto a poignant romantic drama ruined this film for me as I simply could not see how the Schaeffer protagonist could behave in the way that he ultimately did given his character development theretofore. Simply put, the plot progression was psychologically fanciful and thus NOT believable! Also, sequences in the film were edited poorly which distracted from the work's narrative potency. I awarded two stars in deference to Schaeffer's bravery in tackling the complicated, painful feelings that get stirred up when the possibility of deep love manifests between two people. Otherwise, the final third of this film was a complete mess.
