One of the Best,
By
This review is from: After Glow (Ghost Hunters, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I wish there was a higher rating than 5. Nobody does it better. If you read "After Dark" you probably enjoyed it even more. The sense of a fully fleshed out world is awesome. The sexual tension between Lydia and Emmett is great. I love the way each worries about the feelings of the other. The dance of romance is Jayne at her best. From Lydia's determination to protect Emmett, to his worries about her feelings for ghost-hunters, we are constantly waiting for the explosions to begin. However, Jayne Castle, knows what we want. I just loved the Restoration Ball and The DRESS. Two hearts wanting the same thing but scared to reach out too quickly. The suspense and stirring adventure are not overshadowed by the romance, and the thrilling conclusion is wonderfully enhanced by Fuzz and a number of unusual and fasinating characters. Could not put it down. I have already reread it 4 times. (UNBELIEVABLE for me.) I usually don't like to read a book that continues a relationship, but this one is perfect. This is a keeper. And be sure to get "After Dark" also.

More Harmony books...PLEASE!!,
By D. Ogilvie (England UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: After Glow (Ghost Hunters, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Jayne Ann has been doing trilogies - cranking out three books for a set of characters, and outside her Eclipse Bay, the first one is so good, second two suck! REALLY. However, it's with her Harmony books Jayne Ann really returns to her top form. They are fresh, funny and show she still have the magic. So STOP WASTING TIME ON JUNK and write were you show the same spark of romance and delight in the genre. PLEASE. These characters were so warm, real, sexy and loving. What you other books are missing.

Jayne, Write More Harnony Books, Please,

This review is from: After Glow (Ghost Hunters, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was another fun and involved look into the world of Harmony. Lydia Smith stumbles on another murder early in the book and Emmett London finds her soon after, at the murder site once again. It reads more like a chap book than a stand alone novel, so if you haven't read again 'After Dark'. I'd recommend reading it first.

I loved this sequel to After Dark - good romance (in other words, some tension and some humor), intriguing mystery, and interesting secondary characters (e.g. her pet) all set in a believable otherworld. Fans of Jayne Anne Krentz writing as Jayne Castle should not be disappointed.

I loved the book that came before this AFTER DARK, but I had nearly forgotten about it since it was written nearly 4 years ago. So when I read this, I was delighted to find it was a continuation to the story. It's funny, is Jayne Anne Krentz are her top form and I hope this means there will be more Harmony books coming!

An Early "Harmony" story...bring on the dust bunnies!,
By
This review is from: After Glow (Ghost Hunters, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Okay, so a lot of folks have complained about how "weird" Ms. Krentz's sci-fi romance stories are; all the "rezzing" of doors and cars, the silly exchange of words to describe Old Earth Tales(like "Amberella" for Cinderella), the comments about oversized amber compensating for other things by swaggering macho Guild men. Take out all that stuff, and we still have a basic fun JAK story; a strong willed woman meets strong but silent man who keeps everything in: Sparks fly, snappy dialog flung everywhere, he finds his inner hero, and they have great sex. Come on, this is the second exposure of the Dust Bunny, the six toed, four eyed wad of dryer lint that is really a master predator! Fluff is really the star of this show, just like in "After Dark". Who wouldn't want a pet who can find their friends immediately, eats pretzels and can kill? Lydia and Emmett are awfully nice too, and they even make it legal! It's a good one to pick up to understand all the later Harmony titles, so don't be too harsh on it.

I really, really liked this book. It picks up just weeks after the events in After Dark which can be read in the book Harmony. The main reason I am so enthusiastic about this book is that After Dark took me into a completely new genre and After Glow has made me an avowed "Harmonic".This futuristic/romantic/mystery was a delight for me from beginning to end. Since I had already read After Dark it was fascinating to find that Jayne Castle had written this book as if the first book had been an installment, not a separate writing. All the lovely characters were there (except for those killed off in the first book, of course!) with Lydia and Emmett moving directly into their second adventure. As a futuristic novel I am happy to say that I had no trouble coming up with my concept of what the "world" (both above and below ground) looked like. That is pretty important as I have never ventured into any alien landscapes in my reading material. As a romantic novel I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the relationship between Lydia and Emmett mature. Some reviewers did not find favor with the lack of descriptions for the physical relationship side for this couple. As for me, I have a great imagination and appreciate Ms Castle giving me the opportunity to utilize it and fill in the blanks myself. Minute descriptive details are not always welcomed. As a mystery novel it was quite good. I consider myself a huge fan of mysteries and I was satisfied with this plotting. The author threw in a double blind but there is only so much she could do to draw attention away from the villian of the piece. Still, I kept on reading and I think that is what the author wants to hear. All in all, a lovely book. An absorbing book, and a book which makes me want to read more about those folks of Harmony.

Welcome back Jayne!!!,
By Victoria Devlin (Chicago. ILL) - See all my reviews

I have been so disappointed in nearly the last 1/2 dozen books from this author. Seems like in courting the mainstream sales she snubbed her nose at Romance and the fans who adored her. The books were so FLAT.But ZOWEY!!!!! This book is right on target. A (FINALLY) sequal to After Dark (which I loved, just felt unfinished because it WAS!). I got out After Dark and read it back to back with After Glow and POW SIZZLE CRACKLE...romance is back, sexy and so LOVING!!!! MORE MORE Harmony tales, PLEASE!!!

Exciting science fiction romantic suspense,
This review is from: After Glow (Ghost Hunters, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
On the planet Harmony, seven months ago parapsychologist Lydia Smith's life collapsed when she was lost in the catacombs beneath the city. She blames her lost weekend in which she remembers nothing on the ghost hunters whom she believes deserted her, but they say she made an unauthorized dangerous move without their protection. Now instead of a rising career, she works at Shrimpton's House of Ancient Horrors and ironically loves her roommate Emmett London, a ghost hunter.Emmett wants to marry Lydia in a convent marriage, but does not tell her how much he loves her because he fears her bias towards ghost hunters will thwart his dreams. When his biological father, Mercer Wyatt, head of the local ghost hunter guild, is almost killed and is hospitalized, Emmett takes over the leadership. He is unaware the danger he places himself and his beloved in and that her lost weekend and a colleague's final warning in death are tied to a threat that wants him out of the way. Science fiction romantic suspense fans will fully appreciate Jayne Castle's latest HARMONY tale that lives up to its title by leaving the audience with a contented AFTER GLOW. The story line is loaded with action as the lead duet struggles with understanding the forewarning message hidden in a milk container while unraveling a conspiracy involving local guild. The romance between Lydia and Emmett adds depth as readers obtain more insight into the social customs of a wonderfully magical place. Harriet Klausner

I was pleasantly surprised on how good the Ghost Hunter series has started off. It does take a little bit of reading in order to start to grasp all the nuances of humans living on another world, and the fact that each generation after the first wave of colonists has become more attuned to their psychic powers. My favorite character I have to say is Fuzz the dustbunny. He constantly surprises me with his "mind link" to Lydia. You start out thinking he is just your average space pet, but by the second book he becomes so much more. I hope to see more of his kind in the rest of the Ghost Hunter series.
