5.0 out of 5 stars My Fav. NDE Books - I've Been There Too
One day in 1995 I died, and had a NDE. Ever since then, I've been reading everything I can on the subject. 3.0 out of 5 stars If you want a more structured answer to your questions
This book of personal NDE experiences and the effect on the author's life is like many others and while they may give you some solace and comfort they don't answer many questions. The best books that I've found that give you a structured view of what your existence is like when you are not occupying a human body will be found in the works of Michael Newton - Journey of...

5.0 out of 5 stars My Fav. NDE Books - I've Been There Too, December 31, 2003
One day in 1995 I died, and had a NDE. Ever since then, I've been reading everything I can on the subject. According to most stories I've read, I had an unusual one, not going down a tunnel, but experiencing many interesting phenomena all the same. It seems to me that there are some NDE books and magazine articles that are just hype, and published just to give recognition. I have found, through my many years and multitudes of books on the subject, that there is an underlining truth and spirit that pervades the true experiences. So, I have compiled a list of my best reads for NDE books - ones that I consider genuine and adding validating light to the personal NDE experience. I have left out compilations, these are personal narratives. I hope you enjoy them too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book on the NDE, June 23, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been on a roll this last year, reading as many books on NDE's as I can get my hands on, and I found this to be another great book on this subject.

Although many of these books describe a very personal journey, I think we can all learn from their experiences. And, like all books out there re: the afterlife, you just have to remember that it's like "the blind describing an elephant" - their experiences will depend, to some extent on "where they are", and their own thought processes (since I've learned over & over again that our thoughts have a major impact on what we experience both here & on the "Other Side").

In "After the Light", Kimberly Clark Sharp describes her NDE - which occured at the young age of 22 - and the subsequent paranormal activity that has surrounded her since then. One type of activity that became rather prevalent was her ability to see, and be affected by "demons" - or spirits that were definately not around to help her in any way.

Although she has gone through some really scarey experiences since her NDE, she always comes to realize that their are greater forces of good surrounding her, protecting her when she needs them most.

This is the first book I've read where the NDE'r has experienced this type of phenomena, and I found it quite interesting (although I must say that I would not want to be her when these things are happening!).

In this book, Kimberly does an excellent job of writing in a conversational-type style - you feel as if she's right there chatting with you, sharing her most amazing story over a cup of coffee. "After the Light" is both easy to read & a page turner - in fact I read this book in just one night because I couldn't put it down!

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in NDEs in particular, and spirituality in general - it's an excellent read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, Wise Spiritual Autobiography, April 25, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: After the Light: What I Discovered on the Other Side of Life That Can Change Your World (Hardcover)
Sharpe tells the story of her NDE and subsequent psychic opening in a funny and warm narrative. It's a life-story, though, not a how-to book. What makes it a stand-out from the crowd is her comic personality, self-deprecating descriptions and committment to her theme of spiritual wisdom in ordinary experience. It works by lifting you out of your life, sharing in her story, and then returning you to your life with a more thoughtful perspective. You have to be in the mood for winding tale full of magic; if so, you'll love it, and laugh out loud more than once.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT NDE!, October 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: After the Light: What I Discovered on the Other Side of Life That Can Change Your World (Hardcover)
Kimberly Clark Sharp writes like you are her friend and she is sharing her story over a cuppa' tea. Although, extraordinary in terms of your usual reading, Ms. Sharp is believable. She has experienced incredible spiritual moments which have enhanced her life and change your thinking about what's possible. Her words teach us to be open and understanding of what we can't often put into out own words, its a feeling. Reading "After the Light" helps one focus on the spiritual and makes one know without a doubt, how "connected" we all are to one another. It shares many experiences from a spiritual standpoint and you crave knowing more! A very enjoyable book I didn't want to end!

5.0 out of 5 stars Applying the lessons of a near death experience to real life, August 11, 2001
This review is from: After the Light: What I Discovered on the Other Side of Life That Can Change Your World (Hardcover)
After reading many books on near death experiences (NDEs), I have to say I learned a lot of new things from this one.

The author's energetic, upbeat personality comes through loud and clear in a very readable, entertaining style. She discovered after her NDE at age 22, not only reserves of personal strength and knowledge of a spiritual world, but that encountering a dark side of the spiritual world can be a growing experience.

In addition, she details her post NDE ability to "see angels," as well as battling her grief following death of a loved one, and her personal experience with breast cancer.

Well worth reading for anyone interested in this sort of thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVED This Book !!, May 13, 2002

This review is from: After the Light: What I Discovered on the Other Side of Life That Can Change Your World (Hardcover)
This is a great book I really enjoyed it. Not only is her story of her Near-Death Experience amazing, and true, but her writing style is both humorous and serious, depending on what she's talking about. Some of it might stretch your imagination, but who knows? She is very believable, and when I wasn't in total amazement, I was laughing. Near the end, she had me laughing so hard, my husband came in the room and said, "What's so funny?". Well, I couldn't tell him, because you just have to read the book. Well written, and full of amazing surprises. What can I say, I loved it, and I hope you do to.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not The Best Book Out There, February 12, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was so looking forward to reading this book but have to admit it was a little disappointing, and some of it was a little hard to swallow. I have to agree with another reviewer--an angel on the back of a motorcylce was a little difficult to believe. I found Betty Eadie's book much more interesting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, informative book, November 27, 2005
By
This review is from: After the Light: What I Discovered on the Other Side of Life That Can Change Your World (Hardcover)
I found this book to be intensely interesting- so much so that I read it in one sitting. Her descriptions of a loving entity that greets us as we pass from this life to the next are comforting indeed. Since I have recently found the religion that I was raised in to be a complete sham, I have felt quite lost as to what to believe. These NDE's don't give many answers as to any organized religion, but they at least tell me that the soul lives on after death. Death is apparently not something to fear.

I'll have to admit that her descriptions of angels with wings and an angel riding on the back of a motorbike were a bit hard for me to swallow. That an angel would need wings doesn't quite pass the common sense test. But, how am I or anyone else to know if we haven't actually had the experience of seeing them?

This book helps to confirm what I have begun to believe over the past couple of years- that compassion, love, and service to one's fellow man is perhaps the most important purpose of this mortal life.

4.0 out of 5 stars An NDE and Paranormal Experiences, September 25, 2006
Kimberly Clark Sharp writes a personal memoir about her near death experience at the age of 22 and all the things that take place afterwards. Paranormal and spirtual happenings follow her life.

She ends up working as a social worker and dealing with the dying. She uses her own NDE to help her become a counselor.

I did not try to judge any of the events of her life and accepted the story as it was told in the book. One never knows what others have honestly experienced and I am not one to question her personal accounts. They are certainly interesting and different.

It is wortyh reading. It will create some questions as well.
