Michael Jones joins the elite of new-agers that TRULY put melody and feeling into their music, and as a result create GREAT CD's like this one. I have had this CD for 10 years, and I never tire of it. And after seeing what has happened to 'new age' since then, I cringe when I see others take a spotlight away from this man...

Anyhow, get it now - you won't regret it. I am a big Lanz, Brickman, Winston and Story fan - you won't be disappointed with the complex and heartfelt melodies from this man!

Written at the time when Michael Jones was at his peak, this is an outstanding album. Beautiful melodies make this a glorious listening experience from beginning to end. Particularly beautiful are the album's opening two tracks. Jones seems to play with such a delicate touch that makes it seem deceptively easy. I could swear I could hear rain in the opening bars of "After the Rain".
A pleasure to listen to, this album is surpassed only by his prior album "Amber", which is out of print.
Fans of quality, highly original piano music will surely not be disappointed. Narada are moving well away from this type of music, so buy it whilst it's still available!

I consider myself a Music Lover and a firstly a Classic Rock fan, But like many loyal fans of Quality music, I am drawn into the Quiet many times in my life....desiring solice and Peace. I am not sure if Michael Jones had that in mind when writing music for Piano, But this is what I take away from each listen. His songs are Epic with No Loose meanings wandering around in your head when listening.....Simple But very smart! New Age music is considered something to meditate with.....I feel differently......I think this is something you can Meditate ON! I own Most of Jones' cd's with the exception of two. I consider myself a Michael Jones fan Before George Winston or David Lanz. Both of whom I dearly respect. But Jones appeals to what is right for me in Piano Music. If your searching for what is right for you....give Michael Jones a try starting with "After the Rain"....then go on to "Seascapes" and "Pianoscapes".

I just want to second the comment that Michael Jones, among others such as David Lanz and Jim Chappell, are worlds more evocative than artists such as Yanni or Tesh, who unfortunately tend to dominate the perceptions of many when it comes to the genre of "New Age." In short, give "After the Rain" a try. As a first look behind the stereotype, it might open the way to all kinds of comparable great music.

This is a beautiful masterpiece that has been part of my collection since it was put out.......I highly recommend this wonderful CD for anyone's collection!

Michael Jones has been one of the most outstanding piano artists of the latter half of the 20th century. His compositions seem to float through the air, carrying the listener along, wrapping the listener in a blanket of warm, soft, soothing sound. Wonderful!

Next to his Pianoscapes, this is one of my most favorite compilations of acoustic piano music. This disc has Michael playing with other acoustic Narada artists. So there are layers of flute, guitar and oboe. I have been an avid fan of Michael Jones since I first heard his music in 1986. This is not a disc of catchy new age melodies. This is not the Tesh or Yanni type of popular New Age music. Michael writes long soulful compositions. Compositions of deep introspection and comfort. If you like to get lost in your music, put on some Michael Jones, a good headset and enjoy!

What can I say that hasn't already been said by others before me?
After the Rain is quite possibly THE finest piano album of the modern era. The person before me who mentioned the quiet after the rainstorm - that's it, right there. Early some Sunday morning, just after sunrise, right before the world around you starts coming back to life, go sit out on the porch or balcony or patio, load this album into your iPod, slip on your headphones, lean back and prop up your feet. Close your eyes and sip your morning coffee and listen to Michael Jones' After the Rain, and be taken away to someplace magical. Imagine yourself in the forest pictured on the cover, listening to birds chirping, the wind in the trees....
Michael Jones has created magic with this album. The piano is powerful, moving, but not intrusive or overpowering. The flute and cello simply blend in perfectly with the piano without getting lost themselves, making for a beautiful piece. Listen to the album in its entirety - best in one sitting. Take time out of the day and just savor this recording - its THAT good.

When I need the world to seem right again I listen to this album and it usually works. Its simple beauty and depth of emotion remind me what is possible.

I find "After the Rain" to be my favorite of this genre. It is tough to beat piano, oboe and cello, especially when Michael Jones is involved. This music has the ability to transport me to another place and time... I have had this CD for many, many years and it continues to delight my musical palette. In fact, I buy this CD for many friends and acquaintances who I care about. It is a gift of light and hope.
