All good things must come to an end..., February 8, 2009
This review is from: After School Nightmare Vol. 10 (v. 10) (Paperback)
This volume marks the end of this incredibly mind-blowing series and fans will be both incredibly thrilled to read the end as well as incredibly disappointed. Why will they be disappointed? Not because the series isn't incredible (it really is), but because that means that there's no new volumes coming out!
The story picks back up with Mashiro in a dream world where Kureha is dating Sou. From there the storyline goes into full speed as in the real world Kureha and Sou wonder where their lost friend is while they try to live their lives. Things keep going forward into a surprisingly great ending where all the secrets are revealed for this series.
I loved this series. Completely & truly. I'm disappointed that there isn't more to the series and part of me even wishes for a companion manga where we discover what happens to everyone after the conclusion. Still, this is manga at it's best. This is the manga you hand to someone who is curious about getting into the genre. It's cutesy without being obnoxious & mysterious without being overdone. I would go as far as to say that this will remain one of my favorite manga of all time.

Probably my weirdest series..., January 6, 2010
This review is from: After School Nightmare Vol. 10 (v. 10) (Paperback)
So I finished this series...this story has been a bit weird all the way through. I was expecting a gender bender shoujo with a few weird twists, but I definitely got a lot more weirdness then I expected. For example I wasn't expecting the "gender bender" part to be a main character who has the upper half of a man and the lower half of a woman. Usually that phrase is for a boy who dresses up as a girl or vice versa. And at the end of it all, this series dropped my jaw in surprise. I had to walk away from After School Nightmare after reading the ending, I couldn't decide how I felt about this series. But my thoughts wander back to this story fairly often, So I decided I did like it. But man it is a weird one, I wouldn't recommend it to everyone.
This is a very unique series among many series that follow predictable formulas.
