Underrated,
By Bill Swanson, Jr. (Mesa, AZ United States) - See all my reviews

This movie is seriously underrated. As a resident of Oakland, CA when the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake occurred, I was somewhat right in the middle of the real event, so I think I can safely revue the realism aspect of this movie. Well acted, well written and entertaining, this movie acurately portrays the real events of Oct. 17, 1989 well enough to bring flashbacks to those of us who lived this real life tragedy. If you haven't seen this movie yet, give it a try, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

This was a movie that kept me on the edge. Never heard of some of the actors like Nicholas Zaniovich but I understand he played himself, that made it more interesting, to have a unknown play himself He did a great job. Hope to hear more about him. Jack Scalia is always a solid actor. Nicely done well worth seeing

A FACT BASED DOCU-DRAMA,
By
This review is from: After the Shock [VHS] (VHS Tape)
There is no written synopsis for this movie so I'll give it a try.
On October 17, 1989 at 5:04pm, the Oakland A's and the San francisco Giants were warming up for the 3rd game of the World Series when the 7.1 Loma Prieta earthquake hit California. People watched from their television sets as the earth shook and announcers tried to figure out what was happening. The quake destroyed 100,000 buildings and 67 people lost their lives that day. This film is a docu-drama depicting the heroic acts performed by emergency personnel and every day people. All events are based on fact, performed by actors and you will hear from the people who were saved that day as they give thanks to their Heroes. This is not your typical "disaster" movie where you see special effects of the earthquake. Instead, you will see what the human race is capable of being during a time of crisis. Not a blockbuster movie but well worth watching.
