Book two in the After the Storm series is still a good read. The plot was well developed. The book is part of series but could stand on it's own. The characters were good.

I have two main complaints. The first are the love/sex scenes. They were graphic to the point of being pornographic and did absolutely nothing to move the story forward. They served only to add pages and words and could have been left out.

The number of typos and grammar problems I found lend me to believe there is over reliance on spell and grammar checkers resulting in sloppy editing.

I enjoyed this story. The action scenes were tight. The characters were more in depth. The sex scenes were crap. The story kept me interested and would like to read a Book 3.

There are many points that just made me go 'huh?' during the read. First off, most of the story is set in and around Boston. Obviously the author is a Boston boy, and tries his best to make you never forget it. The constant mentions of street names is simply lost on anyone who doesn't live there. I'm sure he's trying to go for a hometown feel, but that only works for people intimately familiar with the area. To the other 98% of the readers, all the local call-outs are simply glazed over.

And of course, he had to include another EXTREMELY graphic sex scene. It wasn't a fitting moment in the story....it was blatant porn. Which is fine....but it just doesn't belong in this story. You could've skipped the scene and not lost anything to the story. I'm far from offended, but the scene goes on for nearly 5 kindle pages If I wanted all out porn, that's what the internet is for.

The same problem with commas continues in this book. They are either misplaced or totally missing, and makes for an unsettling, troubled read. It just doesn't flow with a natural rhythm.

And then there's the tank. They manage to steal a tank right out of the hands of the remnants of the US Army, then proceed to trade it for gasoline, with the stipulation that they can use the tank when needed. So....the clan decided to declare all out war on the army. They are outnumbered, mostly out gunned, and scrabbling for survival. But they forgot they have use of a main battle tank, that would have easily tipped the scales vastly in their favor? It seems the whole tank angle was touched on, then forgotten. (though how they got the tank requires you to completely suspend reality)

I'll check out part 3, but my hopes aren't up.

Action continues in book two!

Having been attacked and captured in their camp, Mack, is at the mercy of his captor(s).

Will he be able to escape and if so, how could his dog possibly help him?

Should the other clans around Boston join forces with those of Mack?

Could there be a plan to get Colonel Jacobsen? Successful??

Lily, the dog, plays an important role in this book!

Highly recommended!

Loved the first book and was loving the 2nd. One complaint: The sex in book 2 is horrible. It's not the sex. I love sex, and I'm not a prude in any way. It just seems he stole his wording out of a bad penthouse article. Give me a break. There's a way to be steamy and exciting without the vulgar use of language and adolescent-type imagery. Instead of it being sexy, it as if seemed the author lost faith in his ability to keep our attention with the story itself. Sad. For the firt time since reading his books I felt like I was reading a .99 cent book. Sorry.

This is a captivating post apocalyptic tale. It all, of course, starts in book one, "Boston" and then moves to New York in this writing.
Both books are "down to earth" and move along very nicely.

I have really enjoyed this series so far, it is some of what could happen if after a great tragedy the people are deserted by an inept government and are forced to fend for themselves. Very detailed and thoughtful.
