5.0 out of 5 stars Central to healing after the suicide of a family member
This book was extremely helpful to me in coming to terms with my father's suicide four years ago. Families need so much help with healing following this type of death with which so much shame is associated. Another book helpful to my healing process is a daily meditation book called Soul Satisfaction written by Elizabeth Rankin Geitz following her mother's suicide. The...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Much Help
This book is clinical, short, emotionless, outdated, and it reads like a college research paper. In dealing with the suicide of a loved one, this book won't be much help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Central to healing after the suicide of a family member, August 23, 1999

This review is from: After Suicide (Christian Care Books) (Paperback)
This book was extremely helpful to me in coming to terms with my father's suicide four years ago. Families need so much help with healing following this type of death with which so much shame is associated. Another book helpful to my healing process is a daily meditation book called Soul Satisfaction written by Elizabeth Rankin Geitz following her mother's suicide. The books are different, but equally helpful, and I wanted to spread the word.

5.0 out of 5 stars After Suicide was my Bible after my mother's suicide, April 9, 1998
This review is from: After Suicide (Christian Care Books) (Paperback)
Fourteen years ago my mother took her life after suffering from a lifetime of depression. I found After Suicide and it was the one thing that helped me live. I have since bought many copies that I give to families of suicides in my town. My hope is that this book can be given by someone at the time of the suicide to families immediately so the healing can start right a way.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Mother's View, February 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: After Suicide (Christian Care Books) (Paperback)
I appreciate the opportunity to comment on this book. After my son's suicide, it was hard to focus, read, or even watch a movie. I was in depression myself. Some books were too emotional, yet I wanted to find answers, understand, help myself and my daughter as well. This book remains on my shelf after 12 years, I still refer back to it at times and refer other persons to it. This book is written in plain and simple language that related to my emotions and pain as well as the confusion that was taking place at the time. It held my interest because it related to my feelings and life so closely. Just when you feel no one can understand this flood of emotions, you realize there must be some sanity to it....it's in black and white.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christian help for those grieving a suicide in the family, February 28, 2002

The suicide in my family took place 17 years ago. The pain never goes away and one is changed forever. I looked for help in so many places and this book is the one that has stayed on my bookshelf. It walks you so gently from the nightmarish first few months through the one year anniversary. This is the book I send to anyone I know who goes through this unique suffering. Other books were clinical or secular or documentary. This book was written to help the Christian move through the pain without moving away from God. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Manditory for survivors, August 2, 2006
This review is from: After Suicide (Christian Care Books) (Paperback)
A most helpful book for survivors, counselors, clergy. This book addresses every aspect of the aftermath of a suicide and provides survivors with information they desperately need to cope with this devastating loss. The book is concise, specific, and cuts directly to the issues by which survivors are overwhelmed. I have given copies to several people who needed it and will continue to recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars It did help me., May 13, 2006
This review is from: After Suicide (Christian Care Books) (Paperback)
My son's suicide was 17 years ago. After all of these years I still have my copy although the pages are yellow and full of highlighter. Everyone is different, especially at a time like this but, I do recommend this book.

I didn't know what I was getting into when someone suggested I read this. Anyone who is facing a situation of sudden loss will get something out of this quick read. It's easy to read, thought provoking and may settle some of your wonders and fears.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a Comfort During a Devastating Loss, March 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: After Suicide (Christian Care Books) (Paperback)
This book was given to me by a friend after the suicide of my father. Unfortunately, suicide is something that you learn a lot about after it has happened in your own life. Written by a minister, this book described my own feelings so well and explained so many of the thoughts and questions that were going through my mind after the loss. I also learned coping skills and how to deal with other family members who were also wracked with guilt and shame.

Many years have gone by since my loss, but I still remember the feeling of comfort this writer brought to me in such a horrible situation. I continue to order copies of this book to keep on hand to pass along to others who are living in the aftermath of the suicide of a friend or loved one.

If you are reading this review because someone you love has taken their own life, I also recommend that you seek help through a counselor or support group. Both these things were of great help to me and my family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this FIRST...and give the book to others..., November 14, 2010

This review is from: After Suicide (Christian Care Books) (Paperback)
This book is the best on the market for anyone who has to go through the "After Suicide." experience.
It is helpful and reached out to most all people to help them cope the best they can. This book is one
and only book for many people to reread and carry them through the trauma. I have referred to it several times
for comfort and given the book away to many friends as they have had this terrible experience touch them too.
