A new feel to this addition,
This review is from: Afterdark: Chicago (Audio CD)
After I bought Afterdark San Francisco, I decided to look into more AD releases. I found this CD and decided to listen to it. After hearing the song "El Regalo de Amor" by Dubtribe Sound System, I instantly bought it. This addition is much more mellow than the others in the series. It's perfect for a rainy and dark day. Disc 1 keeps a quiet sound with soft melodies flowing through. Disc 2 gets a little bit more upbeat, without being overly harsh. Overall, Chicago is a must for tranquil times.

This is one of my favorite entries in the AFTERDARK series. The first disc was mixed by Ananada Project Soundsystem. It's very chillout kind of house, very deep and soulful. The second disc was mixed by Jask and is much more uptempo and will get you moving. There's some jazz elements. House heads will want to give this one a few spins!

Excellent!,

This is an excellent compilation of deep, jazzy, soulful and upbeat house, the music I listen to and start dancing. High quality tracks in both cds, full of sexy basslines. If you close your eyes when listening to some of the tracks, you'll see colours and your spirit will fly (as for sure has happened many times like to me). A very nice adding to the After Dark series. Specially recommended the tracks by Julius Papp, Jay J, Migs, Common Nature, Glenn Underground, Jask and Solar House, all of them masters at work. This (along with other cds: other After Darks, Nude dimensions and naked music, Kevin Yost, Cloud 9, several 'Excursions', Harley and Muscle, etc, etc) is what I call 'happy music', because this is the effect on me. Go to a record store and listen to it (or here in Amazon) and see if this is the effect on you too. If you like the other cds I mentioned, it surely will.

A gorgeous compilation! Arguably, the album is the most superior of the already outstanding Afterdark series. The track selection provides a fascinating insight into the future direction of House music. *Afterdark Chicago* is an exquisite and lovingly-relentless foray into space and time that unites all musical genres to create a vivid and blissful mix for the mind to think deeper, the body to dance better, and the soul to endure longer.
Standout tracks include, but are not limited to, Common Nature's "Can't you see the Sunshine Through The Rain?" Fresh & Low's "Love Capsule" Jask's "Reflections of Love" and "Fantasy" by Jay-J. Andrew 5.3.5

This is a compilation representing the Diversity of Chicago's house music scene. This is where House Music was born. A magnificent compilation and a must have for any Deep/Jazzy/Soulfull House lover. I was very happy that I purchased this cd.

This is a great house compilation. The music is dark, edgy and sexy. The first cd is mixed by Ananda Project Soundsystem and Disc two id mixed by Jask. Artists include Julius Papp, Miguel Migs, Kevin Yost, Martinez, and more. It's a nice cd to pop in when you're getting ready, or having a dinner party, friends over, whatever. It's a nice indicator of where house music is going into the future.

I wasnt too sure about yet "another" chicago based compilation; however, after reading all the reviews and a featured reviews in a couple of magazine... i decided to give it a shot. Went to Virgin, sampled, and bought it on the spot. Then i saw that its part of a series... perfect! Now i just have to save up to buy the rest.

Hot deep house,

Disk 1 is downtempo and disk 2 is slammin. Some jazz elements but not too jazzy (no scooby do wops). This was a great purchase. No crazy copyright protection problems as with Afterdark:San Francisco. If you like/love deep house get this CD now.
