From the Manufacturer

Back By Popular Demand! PDP's line of 2nd Gen. Afterglow Controllers will light the way to higher scores, unbeatable performance, and an enhanced sense of game play that only PDP can deliver. Each controller casing is built using the best available Poly Carbonate plastic to ensure extraordinary strength, crystal clear visibility to the internal LED's and color coded circuit boards.  PDP's Controllers are tough as nails and as cool as the other side of the pillow. 3 LED modes let you choose your pleasure - "On" for constant glow effect, "Off" for those of us with no sense of adventure - Why?  Lastly, the ever popular acceleration and vibration mode - lighting the room with the vibrancy of a swarm of angry fireflies only when the controller is swung or shaken, or when the vibration motors are activated. Color coded circuit boards highlight the 3 currently available colors:  Ruby Red, Blue Velvet and Green W/Envy - which is what all your friends will be when you mesmerize them with your Afterglow Controllers in action.

Afterglow AW.1 Remote for Wii

LED's A Plenty

Millions of LED's in each controller - Not really. Actually 6 vibrant LED's in each controller and that's a lot for one controller. They just seem like a million.

Enhanced Button Layout

The Wii Remote is a brilliant device incorporating several state of the art technologies - all working in concert to bring you the most fun, physically engaged game experience the World has ever known.  Plus, PDP has a redesigned, ergonomic button layout.  The (-) and (+) buttons, used to scroll through menus and place the game on pause, have been positioned on the controller shoulder for easier access.

The (1) & (2) buttons play an especially important role in most games the pinnacle of which is the ever popular "side scroller". You can't live without mastering the 1 and 2 buttons - PDP has positioned these buttons in a way that is suspiciously reminiscent of your favorite Super Nintendo Controller, staggered for intuitive button pressing - By mistake you ask?  Uh, No - - Your jumping, blocking, crouching and all other Life Saving activities rely on your 1 and 2 button pressing prowess.  Did I say you can't live without PDP's Afterglow Remote for Wii's button layout?  Yes I did.

Color Coded Circuit Boards For Color Delineation

Red for the Red, Blue for the Blue, Green for the (Hey you are quick) Green.

Crystal Clear Poly Carbonate Plastic

If "eyes are the windows to the soul" then PDP's Poly Carbonate plastic shows exactly how proud we are of this controller. Revel, people, in the bright, glowy goodness.

Color Coordinated Strap

A wise man once said, “you got to COORDINATE”.  So we did.  The high-tensile-strength straps are capable of stopping a steam locomotive sitting motionless at the Smithsonian for decades without even stretching.  And it will keep the Afterglow Remote tethered to your wrist, too.

Product Description

The AFTERGLOW family of controllers breaks new ground in form, features, and radiant aesthetics, delivering gamers an experience sure to have them glowing. The appearance of the AFTERGLOW controllers is defined by clear a polycarbonate body plastic, within which red, blue, or green circuit boards and components reside. Amplifying the theme, multitudes of LEDs within the controllers glow in hues matching the circuit board color. The result is a truly vibrant glow in both light and dark gaming situations. The AFTERGLOW AW.1 for the Wii features relocated ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons above the ‘A’ button, allows greater precision in FPS and other action titles as well as tiered ‘1’ and ‘2’ buttons which improve horizontal remote game play, lend a retro feel to classic virtual console titles. Each AFTERGLOW controller allows the player to adjust the LED settings to: on, off, or acceleration (activates when remote is swung or shaken).

3.0 out of 5 stars its ok ..., August 19, 2010

i bought this because i needed another wiimote and this is cheaper than the nintendo version. im not sure if i am going to return it or not.
i am not thrilled about:
1) you can hear the vibration more than you feel it, its like there is a piece loose or something.
2) the light is piercingly bright, maybe if you were using it in day time that wouldn't be annoying but then why would you need the lights. i chose the green one because i thought it would be less bright than the other colors. it has different settings so you can have the lights always on, always off, or light up when it moves a lot, but even the standard light showing which player you are is really bright.
3) when first using this i popped in the batteries in my old wiimote, which, according to the wii, had 2 bars of power left. maybe fifteen minutes into watching a netflix movie (not using the remote at all) it went to red and immediately died. afterwards i put those same batteries in my old wiimote and it continued to work just fine saying it still had 2 bars remaining. i dont know if the lights use up a lot of battery or what but im glad i use reusable batteries.
pros:
1) it is cheaper
2) the lights are cool i guess if you are one of those people who enjoy having unnecessary lighting on your computer case etc.
3) it is basically the same size and shape and i think the button placement might be a little better but i havent decided yet.
4) i like that its not boring white, i just wish the light was more subtle.

This review is from: Afterglow AW.1 Remote for Wii - Blue (Accessory)
Bought this extra remote for my 4 yr old son so we could play together as a family. His favorite color is blue and he absolutely loves it. It certainly looks awesome and plays the same as the normal wii remote on all of the games we have (I tried before giving it to him). It even worked well on some golf games that other third party remotes I tried did not work well with. The quality of the remote is great with no play in the battery cover. It fits all of the accessories I have. I thought that the different placement of the buttons may help my younger children not to hit the home button accidentally but alas they still do it frequently. The batter life is not sifnificantly diminished when I have the lights turn on when he shakes the remote. This setting is easily changed by pressing a button inside the battery compartment. Overall I would buy this remote again.

It's 10 dollars less than a normal Wii remote, just as responsive, just as durable, and it LIGHTS UP! Seems like a no-brainer purchase to me. The new placement of the +,-, and home buttons are smart. They are covered by the rubber cover, but really, this wiimote is too cool looking to cover up.

I am completely satisfied and 100% recommend this wii remote.
