5.0 out of 5 stars Very good remote for the price
Bought this extra remote for my 4 yr old son so we could play together as a family. His favorite color is blue and he absolutely loves it. It certainly looks awesome and plays the same as the normal wii remote on all of the games we have (I tried before giving it to him). It even worked well on some golf games that other third party remotes I tried did not work well with...

i bought this because i needed another wiimote and this is cheaper than the nintendo version. im not sure if i am going to return it or not.
i am not thrilled about:
1) you can hear the vibration more than you feel it, its like there is a piece loose or something.
2) the light is piercingly bright, maybe if you were using it in day time that wouldn't be annoying but then why would you need the lights. i chose the green one because i thought it would be less bright than the other colors. it has different settings so you can have the lights always on, always off, or light up when it moves a lot, but even the standard light showing which player you are is really bright.
3) when first using this i popped in the batteries in my old wiimote, which, according to the wii, had 2 bars of power left. maybe fifteen minutes into watching a netflix movie (not using the remote at all) it went to red and immediately died. afterwards i put those same batteries in my old wiimote and it continued to work just fine saying it still had 2 bars remaining. i dont know if the lights use up a lot of battery or what but im glad i use reusable batteries.
pros:
1) it is cheaper
2) the lights are cool i guess if you are one of those people who enjoy having unnecessary lighting on your computer case etc.
3) it is basically the same size and shape and i think the button placement might be a little better but i havent decided yet.
4) i like that its not boring white, i just wish the light was more subtle.

Bought this extra remote for my 4 yr old son so we could play together as a family. His favorite color is blue and he absolutely loves it. It certainly looks awesome and plays the same as the normal wii remote on all of the games we have (I tried before giving it to him). It even worked well on some golf games that other third party remotes I tried did not work well with. The quality of the remote is great with no play in the battery cover. It fits all of the accessories I have. I thought that the different placement of the buttons may help my younger children not to hit the home button accidentally but alas they still do it frequently. The batter life is not sifnificantly diminished when I have the lights turn on when he shakes the remote. This setting is easily changed by pressing a button inside the battery compartment. Overall I would buy this remote again.

It's 10 dollars less than a normal Wii remote, just as responsive, just as durable, and it LIGHTS UP! Seems like a no-brainer purchase to me. The new placement of the +,-, and home buttons are smart. They are covered by the rubber cover, but really, this wiimote is too cool looking to cover up.

I am completely satisfied and 100% recommend this wii remote.

4.0 out of 5 stars a pretty good remote, a great price, May 22, 2010

We bought this b/c we needed a new remote, and it was cheaper than the regular one and cool looking to boot. It works well, no problems with syncing it to the Wii (the Gamestop owner told me some people had problems w/that-I think he just wanted the extra $10).
Pros:
-easy to sync
-cool looking
-rechargeable battery bought for regular Wii remote works in it
-cheaper than Nintendo brand remote
Cons:
-For some games, like when I have remote turned sideways, the lights are distracting. But I can't remember how to turn off the lights! (threw out the booklet)
-because buttons are in slightly different places, it can be confusing to switch back and forth between remote types
-hard to read buttons when lights are on (writing is in white)

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, November 29, 2010

This review is from: Afterglow AW.1 Remote for Wii - Blue (Accessory)
Purchased a pair of these on Black Friday. Great product, works fine with Nintendo Wii! I was a little concerned about buying after market controllers, but these will do the job.

Pros:
-Awesome LED color
-Battery cover/pack are identical to the standard Wii-Motes (not sure about Wii+ remotes with sensor built in).
-On par performance with Nintendo product
-fits regular accessories that work with the Nintendo brand controllers
-LEDs are bright enough for light room and the glow is still visible.

Cons:
-If you play in a dark room, LEDs are bright, but I didn't mind it.
-Matching Nunchuks are not as good as the Afterglow Remote or Nintendo Brand Nunchuk

Overall:
Awesome product, cheaper than Nintendo brand and looks ten times better. Buy regular nunchuk and be happy the remote glows!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Glowing Fun, July 22, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I saw these light up remotes at many of the game and technology stores and decided I wanted one. Upon purchasing I found them to be extremely accurate with the wii sensor and quite easy to use. Being left handed it was nice to find a remote with a button style that (although unintentionally) was very comfortable to use with a variety of games. These remotes can eat up batteries though, so I would suggest a nice set of rechargeable AAs.

Well I picked this up because I needed another Wii-mote and thought this would be cool because of the led's.
It functions just as well as a regular Wii-mote.
The only downside is, I had some batteries explode one day when it wasn't even in use.
And the batteries were installed correctly and I did not try to recharge them either, they were regular AA's.
I don't know if it was the batteries themselves or what, but nothing like that has happened with any other electronic products I own.
But in any case, it was just something fun to play around with and it works well.

My 6 year old LOVES this remote for his Black WII. He thinks he's sooo cool now. Even though it is not made by Nintendo, it still works just the same. I have not had any problems with the controller thus far. I plan on buying them in the other available colors.

It worked great for a couple of days and my son loved it, until the day after I was thinking of writing a "glowing" review it stopped worked altogether, we changed the batteries for regular ones and rechargeable, I already sent it back.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not reliable, May 23, 2011
This review is from: Afterglow AW.1 Remote for Wii - Blue (Accessory)
Two words: Not reliable. I bought two and one of them broke within three months of moderate use. I contacted the company and they did provide me with a replacement, but I had to pay the shipping, which wasn't cheap. Overall, I think the gimmick of the lights is awesome, but not worth it if the thing is going to break.
