This item basically only magnifies at 6x. No variation in between. I bought it for the 4s and the fit seems to be off enough to darken/blur the shot. Not really useful.

6X magnification is not very great. On the plus side, it's OPTICAL magnification, so it's going to be less grainy than the iPhone's digital interpolation zoom.

The lens has focus distance markings, and, thankfully, they made the barrel long enough that you can actually get both hands on it to turn it. And you WILL need to get both hands on it, because the focus ring is very stiff. Arguably, you would want it to be stiff enough that it won't be going out of focus on you too easily... but, even so, this barrel is too difficult to turn. It makes focusing the lens a long drawn-out process. And that means you will miss a lot of shots; if ANYTHING in your field is moving, it will no longer be there by the time you're ready to take the picture. Hence, this lens is only good for taking pictures of still scenes.

The biggest minus, though, is the hacked-up way the lens is mounted. They give you a clear iPhone case with a sort of slip-in holster-mount glued to it. It mates with the lens pretty well, but the design is terrible; the holster hangs out over the edge of the case, inviting inevitable injury. You'd never be able to just carry your iPhone around in this case, because one thin, plastic arm of the holster mount sticks out, over a quarter of an inch. Which means, again, if you want to take a picture with it, you have to embark on a time-consuming process: 1. Take your iPhone out of its case; 2. Slip the lens-mount case onto the iPhone; 3. Slip the lens into the mount (and treat it gingerly, because it is perpetually threatening to break off); 4. Adjust the focus, based on estimated distance; 5. Point the iPhone at the subject matter (and you'll have to put it in a tripod or find something to steady it against, because this lens is impossible to use handheld); 6.

I will keep it short, but let me start by saying if you value photo quality, you mght as well hang a sandwich baggy in front and shoot through that. Well the photo does have some clarity in the very center frame, but wicked barrel distortion and out of focus towards the edges.
Now let me tell you thie greatest feature of this product: built-in, permanent vignetting! All four corners of every shot show the edges of the lens perimeter (dark shadow). Whoever designed this used a very cheap optical element, and did not even care to design it physically to work properly with the Iphone.
I guess for $11, you get what you paid for. Thats why I took a chance. I threw my money away. This thing should be sold in a dollar store. Thats the quality you can expect.

Well you get what you pay for. Poor quality and Blurry pictures. It does zoom that is a plus. I guess I set my expectations too high. Quality of pics were unusable.

It didn't cost an arm or a leg so I shouldn't complain that much. Just a bit junky. Most likely won't even use it. Into the junk drawer it goes.

It works if you really fool around lining up the telescope lens with the lens of the camera- I have not had a very good picture with it yet. Maybe it is for the iphone not the ipod touch
