Book Description

9 and upRemnants
The best-selling author of ANIMORPHS and EVERWORLD presents a fresh, exciting, and gritty science-fiction series that combines a little 2001, a little Armageddon, and a whole lot of action!

Trust no one. The Remnants are outsiders on the planet they once called Home. 500 years after the Rock, Earth is an arid wasteland, inhabited only by a handful of human descendants & mutated animals. To survive, they must plant one of their own--Mo' Steel--as leader of a wild band of surface-dwelling Marauders. But first he has to prove himself by defeating the Beasts, defending the group from Slizzer attacks, and somehow safely leading the Marauders to The Source. And if that’s not enough---he has to keep an eye on those closest to him...because he no longer knows who his friends are.

More About the Author

Katherine Applegate's many books include the Roscoe Riley Rules chapter book series, the picture book The Buffalo Storm, and the award-winning novel Home of the Brave. With her husband, Michael Grant, she wrote the hugely popular series Animorphs, which has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide.

Katherine was inspired to write The One and Only Ivan after reading about the true story of a captive gorilla known as Ivan, the Shopping Mall Gorilla. The real Ivan lived alone in a tiny cage for twenty-seven years at a shopping mall before being moved to Zoo Atlanta after a public outcry. He is now a beloved celebrity at the zoo, which houses the nation's largest collection of western lowland gorillas. Ivan is well known for his paintings, which he "signs" with a thumb-print.

Katherine lives in California with her husband and two children.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but still good, April 28, 2003

I completley agree with the last reviewer, this is probably one of the worst books in the series. That said K.A. never writes a bad book, so its still worth reading. Be warned YOU MUST READ EACH BOOK CHRONOLOGICALLY FROM NUMBER ONE! A lot of this book is the renmants walking around with the very boring Marauders.
But it is Required reading if you want to follow the story of the remnants. I can't wait for the final two books in the series, but i'll be sad to say goodbye to Jobs, Mo'steel, 2Face and the gang. In the words of one of the Marauders "J'ou should definitely read this book just so j'ou can be prepared for the final j'ou- i mean two books"

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Aftermath (Remnants, Book 12) (Paperback)
In all the Remnants books, Mo'steel has been my favorite character. He has to deal with a lot of stuff, and doesn't always get to have what he really needs. He takes it all in stride, which isn't something most people could do.
In this book, you see the darker side of Mo. He is only trying to do what is best for the Remnants and Marauders, but things always seem to go awry, sometimes ending in death.
All in all, this was one of my favorite Remnants books. Good job, K.A Applegate.
