Editorial Reviews

This album is the third solo release from the Bon Jovi guitarist. I hope you are wearing shoes as you hit PLAY on this new Richie Sambora album. If you are not, please be careful. The glass that is shattered all over the floor, your perception of Richie, may shred the skin on the bottom of your feet. Hit PLAY.

Aftermath Of The Lowdown is the highly anticipated third solo album from Richie Sambora and overall it is a strong collection of songs that shows off his beautiful vocal style and his ability to deliver a song with passion. The album was produced by Richie along with Luke Ebbin who made Bon Jovi explode with "It's My Life" a decade ago. The band consists of session players including Rusty Anderson on guitar who played with Paul McCartney's band and Matt Rollings on keys who played with Lyle Lovett. The song styles are a mixture of hard rockers, radio friendly modern rock, and those passionate ballads that have become Richie's trademark. Highlights include the emotional ballad "Weathering The Storm" written with legend Bernie Taupin, the amazing chorus vocals of "I'll Always Walk Beside You", the best song on the album "Seven Years Gone" which has a mind blowing chorus and also builds into an epic bridge section, the quality hard rocker "Learning To Fly With A Broken Wing", and the powerful emotional hit of "Every Road Leads To You". While it doesn't feel quite as unique and intense as Richie Sambora's previous two masterpiece solo albums, Aftermath Of The Lowdown is certainly a quality addition to an amazing body of work that delivers on the promise of emotional vocals that we have come to expect from the bluesman - 4.5 stars.

The talented Bon Jovi band member & rock guitarist/singer-songwriter Richie Sambora is back with his third solo CD release titled 'Aftermath Of The Lowdown'. Richie Sambora is regarded by many as one of the greatest guitarists in rock music today : you'll get some wonderful guitar work in this great rock CD (11 tracks) to showcase his talent with the guitar. But his vocals are great too, just listen to his vocal range in the wonderful track "You Can Only Get So High". Get ready to rock the house down while listening to this CD release, some great compositions, production & execution. Stand-outs/gems/solid tracks include "Every Road Leads Home To You" (great pop-rock track), "Weathering The Storm" (incredible guitar work, melody & vocals), "Seven Years Gone" (mid-tempo pop-rock track with a great melody), "You Can Only Get So High" (wonderful guitar work & great vocal range) & the closing track "World" (beautiful violin & melody). Great tracks include "Taking A Chance On The Wind", "I'll Always Walk Beside You" (slow-tempo mellow track with great guitar chords & melody) & "Learning To Fly With A Broken Wing". Okay tracks are "Burn That Candle Down", "Nowadays" & "Sugar Daddy".

On overall, Richie Sambora is back with an entertaining rock album (a good combination of classic & hard rock), a recommended CD listening. If you liked Richie Sambora's previous two solo albums, you'll love this CD.

Third time is just another charm for Richie Sambora. A huge fan of 'Stranger in this Town', the first solo album from Sambora..a blues driven rock album and of 'Undiscovered Soul', his sophomore second album that was more AOR inspired...I find that 'Aftermath of the Lowdown' has its own unique flavor just as the previous two. It has a touch of blues, of Hendrix..there is a modern, new era feel to some of the guitar licks and rifts..they lyrics are as poetic and earnest as anything he has written solo or with Bon Jovi. Mr. Sambora, in my opinion, should never take 14 years between solo albums. Each one is testament to his diversity, his talent and his vision. Personally, I think this album will be an inspiration to anyone who listens. Cannot wait for what he has up next.

Don't get me wrong, I love Richie...more than Jon, sorry....and I have his first 2 solos and love them from end to end but this one...dunno....there are the great songs on it, ones that Ill listen to over and over again but others, they didn't need to be there, almost like he was trying to hard to fill a CD...but hey that's just me....being honest about one of my faves :)

This third solo album by Richie is probably his best. Not because of his skill as a guitarist (that has already been established) but more because it was a look at who he is. Given his issues over the last 7-8 years, I think he has used this album as a sounding board for his recovery. I like all his albums a lot but this is a very personal look into his journey. If you don't know him or have never heard his stuff, it's still a great record. Check it out.

This is a really good album. It just is. Progressive, emotional, well written and executed. I would say equal to his first if not better, yet different (that was a blues record - this is a rock album). I like the edgier feel of this one IMO. Sorry Jon had to pull the rug out from underneath this album before it had any chance to mature, because it is so much better than that watered down "Disney" record - with no guitar solos, or even bass riffs...
Just saying. I do hope things work out for them. But this album is a gem ;-) Keep rocking!

This CD is explosive high energy with kickin guitar. Sambora showcased his talent on this one as an accomplished songwriter and guitar player. I enjoyed all of the songs on the CD, and I just want to hear it over and over again. If you do not own a copy, you are missing out.
