Afternoon Tea by Susannah Blake,
This review is from: Afternoon Tea (Hardcover)
I throughly enjoyed this book. Besides how to make the perfect pot of tea, the recipes are wonderfull, with a full page picture of a finished product of each recipe. And there is a nice variety of recipes of tea time foods, that one can prepare for a nice afternoon tea for oneself or friends. I would recommmend this book to anyone who enjoys the pleasure of tea.

A Sweet Little Book,
By Sassette "Sassette" (Athens, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Afternoon Tea (Hardcover)
If you are expecting a huge collection of recipes or instructions as to the protocols of serving Afternoon Tea, this book is not for you. However if you already have an idea of how to serve afternoon tea and simply need some traditional recipes, this may be a good book to use.
I really enjoyed the photography and the recipes as well. I would have liked more recipes for the savory courses, but I loved the petite sweets and the tortes and breads. Not an exhaustive tea reference, which should be obvious since it is only 64 pages, but a good one.

Small Tea Book,

First off, I was surprised at the size of the book, rather smaller than it appears online. If you are looking for a pretty little book with a few recipes with pictures, then you will enjoy it. I think the photography is lovely and the recipes, while not tested yet myself, seem delicious. I was hoping to get a book with more photos of different tea settings and such to go along with the recipes so in that regard, this book is disappointing. Still, I will keep it to go along with other tea books I have.

It's hard to tell about books without being able to see a little more inside. I wanted a beautiful picture book. This one is a recipe book but not lots of pics. It's o.k.

How to Make a High Tea,
By
This review is from: Afternoon Tea (Hardcover)
This book is not for a beginner. That said, it is well-written and contains easy to follow recipes. It starts off teaching us how to make the perfect cup of tea; first properly warming the teapot. Then, how to add the tea and the proper way to pour. (And you thought a tea bag was just fine!)
In Britain, a high tea is usually served rather late in the afternoon. It's not intended to be a late lunch, nor an early dinner. It has an offering of savories, finger sandwiches, savory and sweet pastries, scones, tea cakes, cookies, jams, clotted creams, and so much more. This is more than sufficient to help one wait until dinner, often after 9:00 pm. Each recipe is accompanied by a photo of a stunningly arranged finished product. Not only is the food appealing, so are the serving pieces, dishes, and table cloths. If you simply want to enjoy the book and skip making tea yourself, it's still worthwhile to own it.

Great illustrations and info for the beginner and the more advanced cook. More global than some, but still worth having.
