5.0 out of 5 stars McCoy to a tee!, March 13, 1997
By A Customer
This was an excellent piece of penmenship. It fit the charcters Spock and McCoy really well. The appearence by Kirk was a great idea. The part with McCoy's father at the end was a pleasant surprise. I also liked the part about how the girl McCoy liked was already taken by the troublemaker Jim Kirk. Keep up the good writing Jon Vornholt!
Also another excellent job by Todd Cameron Hamilton. he captures the charcters very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story, January 1, 2010
This is a very good book for McCoy lovers to read. I love McCoy and I loved this book. In this book McCoy is ready for Christmas vacation and a time to spend with family. But when a young freshman cadet forgets the football game he is playing is only a touch football game, and tackles McCoy, they both fall onto a security shield and get stuck doing community service for Christmas break. During the community service(Disaster Relief Service Club) McCoy meets Cadet Spock and Lisa Donald and together they work as a team to learn how to save people in natural disasters. After a week of training all the members of the Disaster Relief Service are about to be allowed to go home for the holidays when they receive work that Playamar has gone through a mass earthquake and is continually having aftershocks and they need help. McCoy, Spock, and Lisa are sent down to the planet as the first rescue team, and on the planet they go through so much trouble, and during that trouble, they start to see signs that make them think that the earthquake was not a natural disaster. This is truly a great book, one that you should read, especially if you like McCoy. In the lowest review for this book, the reviewer calls it idiotic, because McCoy was in Starfleet Academy and he says McCoy never went to the academy. But he is very wrong, just because they don't talk about McCoy's academy days, doesn't mean he didn't go. If you want to be in Starfleet you have to go to Starfleet Academy. McCoy couldn't have been Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Enterprise if he had not gone to Starfleet Academy! Even if you don't agree with that it is still a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars McCoy fans start here!, November 28, 2006
Great book -- not just for young readers. Finally someone captured the personality in process of Leonard McCoy. With a terrific plot and the chance to see McCoy hook up with Spock and Kirk for the first time, I would rate this as one of the best Star Trek books written.
